LET ME START BY SAYING THAT THIS IS PROBABLY THE BEST IPSY GLAM BAG THAT I'VE EVER RECEIVED. The ipsy glam bag from March is a beautiful metallic Rose-gold bag that contained a variety of cosmetics. The theme was perfect for Women's History month. The theme was "Dedicated to Strong Women Everywhere". Song choice is obviously intended. It reads on the front of the bag, "and off she went to change the world." That means so much to me. I have ALWAYS championed women and I became a teacher to make sure that I had some, even if very little, impact on what young girls think and feel about themselves. I have little cousins, sisters, and now I have a Goddaughter/ Niece and I want them to know that their possibilities are endless. This being dubbed "The Year of the Women"- I thought that this was really really on trend (not that this should be a trend). This Rose Gold little clutch is so versatile I'm planning to use it as a make-up bag and a clutch. I feel like it will make me feel so good to see this message every time I open my handbag. On to the products, this month's glam bag was very make-up heavy. I really enjoyed that their were brands that I am VERY familiar with, like Morphe and Lord & Berry but, they also had some new brands like Farmacy and Realher- one of the things that I LOVR about ipsy is that they introduce me to brands and products that I may have not heard of or that I wouldn't have tried. I'm going to give you a spoiler alert. This bag was great. I loved most of the products and you can read below why I liked them and if you want to see me test out each of the products, please check out the video below. Also, something odd happened while I was shooting this one, I took a break and actually fell asleep so I'm wearing one look for some of the video and a different look for the rest. It didn't really matter though, because I did use the same products for both of them. It's more so that I did two looks instead of one. Featured Products
Links Ok here's the ipsy deets- ipsy is a subscription service that sends 5 beauty products to you every month. It's not little no-name brands either, I've received products from some of my favorite brands like Too Faced, Morphe, an Tarte to name a few. Something else I like about ipsy, is that you can pause or end your subscription whenever you want to and there's no punishment for it. If you choose to pause it too, you can always resume, again with no punishment. If you do want to become an ipster you can sign up or check it out right here - Become an ipster These pictures posted are not my own they are stock photos taken from online sources, cited in the captions. space case cosmetics eyeshadow in "Alien Love Child" Eye shadow is one of my favorite types of make-up but, there's a catch, I like eye shadow palettes. Palettes are a one-stop shop- I use no less than four shades, every time I start an eye look. Palettes contain all four of them in one. So, you see why individual eye pots are undesirable for me. This one is different though. First of all, shout-out to the folks at Space Case for their packaging. If I told you once, I've told you a thousand times, PACKAGING IS IMPORTANT. I need to know that you care about your products as much as I do. Space case sent their eye shadow pot in a box that had print on all sides. THEN, the actual eye shadow itself came in very cute packaging. A simple black pot with a clear cover, which allows a sneak peak of what it looks like, with space case written in white. When I first saw it in the sneak peek, I was like "When am I going to use a 'Pearlescent purple' eye shadow?" And then I tried it. You guys know about my hatred of a weak swatch. This one had a very sheer swatch but, when I actually applied it. It's so beautiful and it takes on so many different hues due to it's holographic nature. Every time I tilt my head, it looks different. When you wear it, it's almost to me, like a neutral. I can put it with any outfit and any look and it works so, I love it. It clocks in at under 10 bucks! They also give free shipping on orders that are 55 dollars and above using the code: Friendship. (Friendship again? That's for my Mortal Kombat fans.)That's a pretty good deal for an eye shadow. I'm looking at their website and they have a lot of beautiful shades, I'm shocked that they don't have any palettes! Space Case- you guys NEED a Pallet. You can name it "The Solar System" palette! I don't even need Royalties. You can check it out here Alien Love Child Lord & Berry Eyeliner in "Supreme green" I've received products from this brand before, one of my favorite black eyeliners came from them. I can't remember what it's called but, it's lovely. They slide on so smooth. It's a great tight-lining liner but, this emerald green shade? I'll be honest with you guys. I didn't know what to do with it. So, after finishing my eye look, I thought the best option was to do an Under Eye Liner. I figured it might help to bring attention to my brown eyes. Which EVERY ONE says that if you have brown eyes, green makes them pop, so I thought it would bring a lot of attention to the color of my eyes but, I didn't really see a difference. My eyes looked pretty good but, I think that its just because I smoked it out. I really like it, as I said earlier, I think that it's so smooth when applied and it is pretty pigmented and very pretty. So yea, I do like it. During my research portion of each blog, I learned that they are available for purchase in so many places. When I finally made it to their website, I found the eyeliner. Let me say too, their website is incredibly chic. It looks more like the website of a designer rather than a makeup company. Ok, it looks like this eyeliner is part of a "Supreme" line of eye liners. It's not called "Supreme Green" (don't look at me, that's how ipsy has it listed. But, this "Supreme" line is supposed to be a "smarter" eyeliner. In addition to this green, they also have a blue and a purple to chose from. This new liner boasts a new formula that is supposed to be a "smart generation of a high-perfoming pencil. Supreme is a metallic shine eyeliner providing high coverage." Now, I'll be honest, I saw nothing metallic but it was still really pretty. The full size version, in my opinion is a little steep at 20 dollars a pop. I don't think I'd EVER buy a pencil eye liner for 20 bucks but, it is a really smooth pencil that lasts all day. Their website does give Free Delivery with a minimum of three products! USA and UK only! If you do want to take that walk, and pay that price, you can check it out right here Lord and Berry Farmacy Clean Green Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm I know how bad this sounds but, I really don't care about if a product is all natural or vegan or any of that again, I already know how bad it sounds. I am perfectly able to read ingredients and look them up, if I have questions about it, before I buy the product. The process of make up itself isn't natural. The WHOLE ENTIRE point is to dress up what you naturally are. Anyway- that being said, this IS an organic, cruelty-free, vegan company. Farmacy- AGAIN, this is one of the things that I LOVE about ipsy, I had NEVER heard of this brand or product but, it is AWESOME. Ok- I'm sure every blogger, vlogger or youTuber knows how important it is to be able to take your makeup off, especially if you're going to be doing a lot of removing. Any and every woman should be taking off her makeup every night before you go to bed. Makeup remover is or should be a staple in every household where makeup exist. This balm is exactly that it's a cleansing balm. I have never removed my makeup and had my skin feel so soft after my makeup is gone. This stuff got a liquid matte lipstick off and it was quick! Then when it was all gone my lips were so soft. I'm obsessed with this stuff. So, the research I did only made me want to buy it more. There may be something to this "clean" product stuff. It made my skin feel great! No weird scent, it just smelled fresh and it made my skin just feel clean. I hope this little trial sample lasts me a while because after it runs out- I'm getting more. On their website it's described like this "This nourishing makeup remover + cleansing balm gently melts away stubborn makeup and impurities caused by pollution, without stripping skin." Now, I never research BEFORE using anything that comes from ipsy until after I try it, just because I don't want my opinion swayed at all. This stuff does EXACTLY what it's description says. So- if you want to try it, it comes in two sizes: You can get the smaller size (1.7 fl. oz.) for 22 bucks or the larger one (3.2 fl. oz.) for 34 bucks. I know it seems steep and I'm always saying that stuff is overpriced but, honestly- I think this one is worth it guys. I mean I spent so much money on GlamGlow products and they weren't bad but- THEY DIDN'T make my skin feel like this does. So- if you want to check it out, you can order here - Clean Green, makeup remover. Sign up for special offers, exciting news, complimentary samples and much more! You’ll also get 15% off your first order. Right now- there is a free shipping for EVERYTHING for a limited time (only until June 15th). So move fast. Morphe Mini Bronzer in "Blogger"I've been a #MorpheBabe for quite some time now- the first time I heard of Morphe was because of their brushes. When I first got into makeup- like not the first time I ever used it but, when I became OBSESSED with it, Morphe was mostly known to me in their brushes. Everyone I knew and every makeup artist that I ever came across (when I modeled, weddings, senior pix, all kinds of crap) had these Morphe Brushes. It was nothing but morphe brushes and MAC makeup. Well, in the age of vloggers and bloggers, I'd say about five years ago maybe less- I started to notice that EVERY tutorial I watched, they were using these massive and beautiful Morphe eye shadow palettes. I still waited and waited because you had to order them online, I just knew that it would cost me and arm and a leg. Then I finally took the plunge and checked out their site. THEIR STUFF WAS SUPER AFFORDABLE. I mean a 36-pan palette was just 24 bucks- half of my first palette I ever bought (The Smashbox Double Exposure palette). So - I ordered a few. I was SO IN LOVE!!! I know that's a long way to go but, you have to hear the backstory to get you familiar. Seeing this Mini Bronzer coming to me in the ipsy "sneak peek"- I was so excited. I've never been disappointed in them. Obviously, this bronzer was no exception. First off, let's talk about their packaging. I always say that I hate when people or companies skimp on what they are doing. Just because ipsy doesn't give full sized samples, it doesn't mean that you can throw crap at me. Morphe gave one of the best samples that I had ever seen. This mini bronzer looks exactly like the full-sized one, I know this seems like no brainer but- it's not always like that. The box was the same, ink on all sides with their logo and saying on the other side. It then had a plastic cover that will last forever. The bronzer itself? Not going to lie- I get a kick out of the shade name, "Blogger" but, it's a smooth matte bronzer that is a little bit orange but, I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. I only see one mini-bronzer right now in the shade "Debutante" but you guys- it's only eight dollars? That's legit less than a combo at MacDonalds. So if you want to check it out you can see it right Mini Bronzer. Also, they have some pretty good palettes too. This isn't really a deal but, it's far more important than that. I had to tell you guys that every purchase gives you the option to donate to "The Trevor Project" (a non-profit that helps and hopefully ends by preventing suicide among the LGBTQ community). That is so cool of you guys. If you sign up to the email, you can save 10% on your order. Realher Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade "I Am Adaptable"The last product I used is the Realher liquid matte lipstick in the shade "I am Adaptable" So first, let's talk about the packaging. I LOVED the packaging. The metallic accents are beautiful. I love how the rose gold looks and I like that they carrys through to the product. The actual product itself came in very very classy package again, something that I love and it's very important to me. Here's something else that is important to me, when you open it there is a little folded piece of paper with an inspirational story in it. THAT IS SO IMPORTANT. It's so needed right now to be inspired and positive because so much of our world is so ugly and so negative. You should feel happy when your doing your makeup. And if you are having a bad day or a as I call them a "down day", this should pick be a great pick-me-up. Their tag-line is "Makeup that Empowers." So, this brand fits in perfectly with the theme of this month. I checked out their site and although I haven't really dug in to the products themselves BUT, their message is amazing. I was just looking at the lipstick with the "I am Powerful" right on the tube. I mean dude! It's amazing. Ok- lets get down to business. This IS the single most beautiful liquid lipstick that I have EVER received in an ipsy bag. It may be one of my favorite liquid lipsticks of all time. Here's the thing- a lot of lipstick looks beautiful in the tube, it looks beautiful when you swatch it. Even on the lips- You'll see it and think "I'm so glad I picked this shade, it's gorgeous." "I Am Adaptable" made me look prettier. There is a difference. When I put it on, it made my entire look and again, it gave me so much confidence! Especially for Women of Color, simply because of the actual color of our skin, reds can be hard to pull of. In my opinion, a lot of reds look like you are doing WAY too much. This one is just beautiful. It dried down to lovely bright red and didn't dry my lips out too much. Of course a matte isn't going to moisturize your lips but, I really cannot say one bad thing about it. It passed the kiss test. It's so good. Now- this is a limited edition product so if you want it, you will have to act quickly. It comes in at 14 dollars which in my experience is pretty much on average for a higher-end or prestige liquid lipstick. They are offering FREE U.S. SHIPPING ON ORDERS OVER $50. If you want to check it out, you can order it right here RealHer liquid lipstick The wrap up This months ipsy bag is the best one that I can remember. I loved everything in it and I'm pretty sure that I will be using them multiple times. This one was a home run. The message is one that is near and dear to my heart, women's rights and empowerment. I love the rose gold bag and the message that is pressed into it. It got a diamond for sure. Ipsy ya'll really did great this time and I can't wait to see what's next. So guys, I know that this may come as a bit of a shock to you but, this post is a little bit late. Thankfully though, ipsy has been on a great streak where there bags aren't too theme-y. December was a festive array of beautiful products all kept in a gorgeous glimmery glamorous gold bag. And something else different about this bag is that ipsy decided to show some love to their subscribers, aka ipsters, by giving us an extra gift. It was a really good month. I've been an ipster for a few years and haven't once regretted it. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely good and bad months but, over all I've gotten beautiful things and gotten the opportunity to test out and discover new brands with them. This was the final bag of 2018 and it didn't disappoint. So- let's get into it but, again I want to review a few things about ipsy's subscription service- which I love.
First aid beauty - Facial radiance pads Normally, ipsy does send makeup as well as make up brushes but- they also send skin care items. As a matter of fact, some of the best facial cleansers and moisturizers I've ever used have come from ipsy. I haven't really had my mind blown by any of their masks but, in all fairness, I'm a pretty damn good shopper as far as that's concerned. In December, I received another amazing face product from them- I got a set of "Facial Radiance Pads" from the world renown line "First-Aid Beauty". Let's just get straight to it. I LOVE these little pads. They are textured on one side which make them a great exfoliator, they are cool to the touch and really open up your pores. A good way to look at it, would be to think of it as a "toner pad". It goes just a little bit deeper than your regular cleanser and according to the directions- it doesn't need to be rinsed off. For me, I really like to use them before bed. I find that it really gave my face a beautiful and healthy glow. After, using them in this video, I've put them on the side of my bathroom sink and they haven't moved since. I've gotten a few items of this brand from ipsy and this one obviously another hit. So, just digging around their website, I found that they offer this full sized product in two different sizes. You can get the smaller size 28 pads for 16 dollars or you can get the larger version, which features a whopping 60 pads for 32 dollars. Both are a pretty good price considering that it's probably best to use them daily. To help ease some of the financial pain their website offers free shipping on orders over 25 bucks and if you sign up for the email list you can also get an additional 15% off of your first order. Check it out for yourself right here Facial Radiance Pads Sugar cosmetics- arch arrival brow definer in taupe tom I had never heard of this brand before but, Sugar Cosmetics sent over an arch arrival brow definer in the shade Taupe Tom. Taupe Tom is a shade that their website identifies as "Grey Brown" and now it ALL makes sense. This is what my biggest issue has been with eye brow pencils for quite some time now. I have ALWAYS found, and you guys have heard me say this multiple times on here and in my videos, that I hate that my brows always seem to have a grey tint to it. I must say, I am very excited to discover that I am not crazy, they literally have grey IN the color. So as was my issue with so many brow products that I've gotten from ipsy, this is the main problem that I have with "Arch Arrival". A few more issues I have- and I very rarely complain about anything like this- it's such a stupid name! "Arch Arrival"? What does that even mean. My final issue with this product is the actual shape of the product. It's a twist up pencil, what I mean by that is you do not have to sharpen in. You twist it up and then can apply it. Once it's twisted up though, it's not very sharp even though it is shaped like a triangle and seems as though it should make a straight line and/or a sharp enough point but for some reason, it does not. I like a really really sharp point at the end of my brow and it didn't- I had to do so much cleaning up- it was tough. It does have some redeeming qualities too. The packaging is very sleek and chic. I like that it's simple and it reminds me of a Chanel style packaging. Another thing that I like is that for a sample size, it's pretty big! There was also another big plus with this- it's double sided, which I think is pretty cool. It has the product (color, pomade, brow pencil) on one side and on the other side, a spoolie. A spoolie that allows you to comb out your brows and can fade them in and out with the brows. I really think THAT is a good thing and I wish that more companies would do that as well. This product is a pretty inexpensive product clocking in at 12.99 and again, that's for the product and if you order it online you can get free shipping. Their free shipping threshold is only 10 bucks. That's one of the lowest that I've ever heard of. This wasn't one of my favorite products but, it's hard for me to be impressed by eye brow products. You can check these out on your own right here - Sugar Cosmetics Arch Arrival TheBalm Cosmetics- Take home the bronze in greg Bronzers are one of my favorite things. I love to warm up my complexion with a nice toasty bronzer. A lot of people like it for the Summer and the Spring, when everyone wants to be a pretty healthy golden shade. However, I like to have that glow ALL YEAR round. I seem to run into an issue though. My skin tone. So- first let me start by saying that, I LOVE my skin tone- most of my family and I have an almost golden/tan skin tone. I look like I'm always wearing a bronzer. I always get excited when I get a bronzer in my ipsy bag. This one is from TheBalm Cosmetics. I've gotten a few of products from this brand from ipsy and as far as I can remember, I haven't been this appointment. Last month they sent me a liquid highlighter and I love it. I mentioned last week about how I've been finding so many good bronzers especially in different ipsy bags. This one was no exception. This month, I received the "Take Home the Bronze" anti-orange Bronzer in the shade "Greg". I HATE having an orange bronzer and I honestly don't really care for a glittery one either. I like all of my shimmer to be in blinding highlight, I don't need to be running around town looking like a disco ball, right? As a matter of fact, I went to TJ Maxx and came so close (like inches) to buying a too faced "Peach Bronze" Bronzer and yes, it was a great deal but, I just have so many great ones, I just don't really have time to put it into my bronzer rotataion. So- my faves right now, Chocolate Solie by Too Faced, Dew the Hoolah by Benefit and this lovely "Take home the Bronze" from TheBalm. This is a BIG deal because of the fact that I NEVER EVER put bronzers in the company on those two. That my friend is a big deal. Here's why I did. First off, the "anti-orange" thing. I don't know how but, it's not a fake tan orange color- it's more of a pretty soft natural looking toasted brown. Also, it's a matte bronzer. No glitter, no shine. But a beautiful bronzer that can make your skin look like you've been on the beach ALL day and just got a healthy glow. It can be used as powder contour or just to warm up your complexion. Another thing that I like about it is the formula. I'm not sure how but, when using my contour brush, it picked up just enough, It wasn't too much where I had to brush it off and I also didn't have to keep packing it on. The full-sized version will cost you 17.50 but and comes with a mirror. They also have two other shades so that you can find one for any shade. It's called take home the bronze but honey, Greg gets a gold in my book. Check it out for yourself right here. - Take home the Bronze - #TheBalmers Finding Ferdinand- Blush in "Skinny Dip" I personally had never heard of the brand "Finding Ferdinand" until receiving this blush in my ipsy bag so, before I wrote this post I went in and did some research. In my video, you see me open this really cool little medical looking bag (I said that it reminded me of the KKW beauty line)- it was just a tiny little pan in a bag though. Not like TheBalm products come, or OFRA, or smashbox but, after looking into I see why. Finding Ferdinand is all about personalization and customization. Their big thing is customizable palettes. While I have some issues with that, for the most part it's a good thing. So, that being said, this little pan is meant to be put into your own palette. Now, to the actual blush itself. "Skinny Dip" is not my usual shade of blush. This blush is a much cooler tone. It's like a cool tone mauve color- I'm much more of a warm tone golden/honey blush type of girl and I must say, ipsy has been sending A LOT of blushes lately- I think the last three bags have had them. Although it's not really my idea shade, I will say it's so transparent that honestly, it doesn't even matter. I mean- it's SO transparent that I can't even tell you if it's matter or shimmer. It's just a nice clean healthy flush of color. If you are a person who is a little gun shy when it comes to blush, this might be a good one for you to try because it's so sheer. Something I like about it though, is the formula- it's a very plush almost creamy type of blush- I like it. I don't love it but- I like it. I really like the idea behind the brand "Finding Ferdinand" though- like imagine using a palette where you use EVERY color to the pan because you hand selected them. Anyways you can check the brand out as well as this particular product right here Skinny Dip blush. The pan of blush will run you 14 bucks and there are a few different options for palettes to put it in, if you don't already have one like I do, they range anywhere from 10 to 60 dollars. And their website offers free shipping on ALL U.S orders- no minimum purchase. F.A.r.A.H Brushes - Tapered Blending Brush 35 E Make-up looks are complicated. And a lot goes into it. The most important thing is skincare. If you have a terrible canvas to paint on, your work isn't going to come out right now matter how expensive the paint is (that's a BFA student reference for you. I never use that degree). Behind your skincare routine, the tools you use are almost just as important. I take brushes very seriously. Cleaning them, taking good care of them and learning the best way to use them. ipsy has introduced me to a whole new world of brushes. I mean SL Miss Glam- has become quite the staple on my glam station, as has Luxie Beauty. In my December ipsy bag came another one. This time from F.A.R.A.H Brushes, again a brand that I had never heard of until using ipsy. Let's discuss this tapered blending brush. First off- the esthetics of it (another BFA word). This brush is so beautiful to look at. It's like a little sculpture. It's faceted and catches the light beautifully on it's luxe foil gold color- I mean, it legit looks like a piece of jewelry. But, looks aren't everything, does it work? It is such an amazing blending brush. I tested it out on an eye look but, I'm pretty sure that it could be used for anything. I think that the next time I use it, I'm going to try applying a blinding highlight with it. Just for a pretty pop of color. It's fanned out at the end and the stem of it is so long that you can use it as with your hand at the bottom of it to cover larger areas at once or you can hold the top of it (closer to the bristles), which is what I call choking up on it, to get more direct and to blend out in one particular area and have more control over it. I'm digging around their website and I must say, I love their vibe of class and elegance. This brush comes in a a few different variations, all of which are beautiful. The one that I received is part of the "Gold Collection" and it retails for 10 dollars. This one is pretty inexpensive, especially for a brush that's so useful but, I warn you if you start shopping around on there, some of their stuff is a little bit pricey. You can check out this particular brush here- Gold Collection 35E. Free shipping on orders over 30 dollars on their website. Half-Caked Lip Fondant in power trip I hope you are sitting while reading this because I'm about to shock you...my favorite product in this ipsy back is a matte liquid lipstick. I know, I know. I'm going to give you a second to catch your breath before I continue. So, I the only thing that can make a matte liquid lipstick better is one that is based off of food or are themed around food. So, when I saw the sprinkle writing and a half-eaten doughnut? I was all about it. Tis brand "Half-Caked" is all about fun, whimsy, and being delicious but, even though it does have all of those aspects- they didn't come to play. When I went to their company website to try to get the best deals to tell you guys about, I spent another half hour on there just shopping around. Their lip products look so beautiful! I was sent the shade "power trip" in the lip fondant which retails for 16 dollars. They are currently running a Valentines day sale where you can get up to 70% off of certain shades so- you know me, I had to look. If I had some extra cash and didn't already own 100 matte liquid lipsticks, I would have probably bought about 10 products, 5 mattes (Lip Fondant) and 5 glosses (Frosted Sugar). The shades are so beautiful- the brows, the reds, the nudes?! I mean dude. But, back to the matter at hand. I LOVE this lipstick and again, I have so many different kinds, from my ex, Kylie to Smashbox, Dose of Colors, MAC and Anastasia Beverly Hills, I've seen so many gorgeous liquid matte lipsticks that it's hard to impress me. This one was pretty good. It smells like cake, it applies like a really light mousse, which is cool because it almost fills in all of those little cracks in your lip to make a very smooth surface. It dried down quickly and lasted for hours. "Power Trip" is a strong brick red that I would classify as a "Bad b*tch" shade. It's powerful and it makes you feel strong. If I have any issue with this product it's the applicator it's shaped a certain way to really grab and contour your lips but, my lips are a little bigger so it didn't exactly fit me that well. Other than that I love it. You can check it out right here Power Trip. Also, free shipping over 30 dollars.
