I am not AT ALL a stranger to conditioners. I LOVE a good conditioner. I have had platinum blond hair for a while and ran the gamut of shades for these tresses. I had many MANY of hair stylists tell me that had I asked them about going with such a hard-core transition they "would say no but, after seeing you pull it off..."- I made it work. Not only would I make it look cute but, it was healthier than most people's natural hair. Everywhere I'd go people would compliment me on my hair (I distinctly remember once riding around with my mom and a person in the car beside us honked and complimented my hair.) This was pre-Orlaplex. I do have to credit a lot of it to genetics but, some of it also has to be credited to my SEVERE conditioning regiment. When I wash my hair- darling, I CONDITION!!! Like if it says, "10 mins", I leave it AT LEAST an hour. Switching back to my natural hair color made a WORLD of difference. A year or so ago I discovered BRITE "Vegan Icecream Masque"...The scents sounded so good. No, I didn't actually smell them, which is why I never bought them. Also- I had NO IDEA that they were an entire line but- that's not what this is about (sidenote- I really wish I knew about their "Purple" line back then because - Purple shampoo is a wonderful thing for cool blondes like I was. Also Brite "Hair masque for Blondes" looks legit. Their entire lineup is all fun things like "glitter masks", "hologram masks"- stuff like that. So- when I got four different masque from this brand I was so damn excited! I received the "Vanilla Bean: Condition + Repair", "Birthday Cake: Repair + Protect", "Strawberry Milkshake: Condition + Strengthen" and "Blueberry Muffin: Overnight Repair" (I'm super excited about that one) to try out and review- I was elated. Supposedly each one is supposed to assist with some different hair issue. You guys know me well enough to know that I was really much more into the scents. So- I'm going to review them one by one and tell you guys what I think. Let's get that hair healthy. Each of the are Vegan IceCream Masque. These are available at Target, the Brite Website (which has more scents but, the price jumps up to 16.00) and ULTA Beauty- which usually has the best deals. (Yes girl- those are all links. You know I got you.) These masque packs run 12.00 at ULTA beauty and they are usually on sale. Currently, ULTA has them at a buy 1, get one 50% off. Vanilla Bean: Condition + Repair
Strawberry Milkshake
birthday cake
Blueberry muffin
Overall review I mean- I have to admit, these hair mask was one of the biggest letdowns (product wise) that I've ever personally experienced. Even if you wait for them to be on sale, like I did at 50% off- I STILL don't think they are worth the money. I mean- a one off, like if it was just one of the mask, would be one thing but, ALL FOUR! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! And it may be my fault because, when I first saw them, I just wanted to try them so badly. The packaging was cool, the scents sounded great, and putting the most beautiful and delicious looking food on the packets seemed like it was right up my alley. Ya'll know that this girl- loves a sweet scent. I swear, if it was up to me, you wouldn't know if I had a pastry shop or a Glamroom based on the smells coming out of it but- NONE of them smelled like I thought they would. I was thinking Philosophy scents- I got flavored children's medication. And all of that- I can excuse misleading packaging, I can excuse medical scented conditioner- if the products just worked. NOT ONE OF THESE IMPRESSED ME. And here's the killer- instead of just making the same product in different scents, each one if supposed to target a different need in the hair: smoothing, repair, protecting, strengthening- but they all did the same thing...nothing. And I mean, as a regular conditioner- yeah, it's ok. I didn't strip the hair and it did feel soft but- don't insult my intelligence and call it a mask or a "masque". And when drugstore brands like, John Frieda, Garnier Fructis, and Pantene are hitting it out of the park masks- you can't come with that price point and do this. Ya'll come on. I'm sorry BRITE but, this vegan hair masque just isn't for me. Again- if you do want to check it out and prove me wrong, you can do so here BRITE IceCream hair mask and please hit me up - see this link for contacting me. I truly want to know your experience with this stuff. I want to think that it's something that I'm doing incorrectly. If THIS is what Vegan IceCream is like- ya'll can miss me with that.

10/22/2018 0 Comments Webstore review - Xoxo 5th ave.Online shopping is extremely popular right now. Amazon, Kylie Cosmetics, The RealReal, Rue La La, and Wish are all of stores that are exclusively online. Now that I run an instagram for this blog, I've gotten approached a few times about being a brand representative and about affiliations and all of that. I've only agreed to do two. I don't want to support or tell my followers to support anything that I do not stand behind or that I would not or do not use. The last company that I decided to try out was this beautiful Chic little Boutique in New York called "XOXO Fifth Avenue". They contacted me through instagram so, I checked out their site and then agreed to become a brand rep for them. They have such beautiful clothing, accessories, shoes and jewelry. And I always loved things that are original and rare. I HATE having the same things as someone else, this place is just that. This is a very chic little boutique. I love their aesthetic. They are New York through and through. They are very Manhattan socialite. I really love their edgy vibe. It reminds me a lot of Gossip Girl. So, after loading my cart with about 1500 dollars worth of merchandise, I settled on one beautiful pink handbag. A handbag that I've now used multiple times. The bag was about 70 dollars which isn't bad for a bag of that quality. I mean, it literally is one of my faves. So I went through check-out and it was easy. But- THAT was the last easy part in this. The big downfall in all of this? It was one of the single worst shipping and handling processes that I have EVER gone through and I have been shopping online since high school so that is saying a lot. I know the shipping is free world wide but, it was just so much back and forth. So many questions and not enough answers, so much waiting around. Here's what happened. So- right after ordering things got weird. I placed my order on 7/28 and was awaiting my confirmation email. As I'm waiting for it, another person from the same company emailed me asking if I wanted to be a brand rep. I already WAS a brand rep. Now, this isn't a bad thing, it was just odd to me that the people within the company didn't talk to one another. You should know or have some sort of record showing that I was already, in a sense, working for you. I NEVER did receive a confirmation email but, I did receive a confirmation text message. Fine - They got back in touch with me on 7/30 and said they would look into it. I gave them all of my info. again and then I asked when I could expect the package to be shipped. In response I was told on 7/31 "You'll get an email confirmation when it ships." - Ok, first of all, that was pretty rude. I am well aware of how online shopping works but, usually when you get a confirmation email - it says how long to wait for shipping...I guess it was on the email that I never got. So FINALLY on August 13th, YES, AUGUST 13th, I receive and email telling that my order has been shipped. But guess what...there was no tracking information - I have to tell you guys. I had never experienced that before. On 8/22- I sent an email explaining what happened and asking about my tracking number. They said that I was sent a shipping confirmation email - again, as if I didn't know that. They said that they would contact shipping to figure out where the bag was. Let me remind you - this is ALMOST A MONTH since I ordered and paid for the bag and I still don't have tracking info. I was told that shipping takes 7-14 business days. I then asked how long it usually takes to get a tracking number. Again! I got no response until 9/6 - with a tracking number and a status update that the bag had been delivered. I had already had my bag FOR A WEEK at this point. I remember reading the email and LITERALLY laughing out loud. It really seemed like a bad joke. I mean really, what good does a tracking number do when the damn purse is here? I can tell you where the purse is. What does the bag in question look like? Here it is. The bag itself is slightly smaller than I thought it was BUT - It's a very very very cute bag. And for 70 bucks it's not such a big splurge. It's a really well made bag. I adore the powder pink shade. I like the combination with the gold hardware. The bag also came with a longer strap and the top handles are soft, which makes it comfortable to wear on the arm even if the little bag is full, and surprise, my bag is usually full. It also has a black velvet lining. It's one of my favorite bags in my collection. I switch out my bag every Sunday usually but, I wore that bag for almost a month straight. Oh! One more thing that I forgot to say, they promised that it would come in in their "Pink VIP Gift Wrap" so, check this out. It came in a regular white shipping bag, with the pink bag and tissue inside (you can see the packaging under the bag in the pic above). The million dollar question I know what you're thinking and yes the shipping and the customer service were an ABSOLUTE nightmare. But, would I give them another chance? As of today, yes I would. I'm just hoping that I did something wrong or maybe it's just because it's the first time I've ordered from them. I'm really not sure and yes, I do have an affiliate code but, I have not made one cent off of it so far and I really don't care if I ever will but, you guys now know that at the end of the day for me, it's ALL ABOUT THE DEAL. The bag was an amazing deal and now that I know what to expect. I'll just wait. I probably will give them another chance, probably around the Holidays just because they have some beautiful bags and jewelry.I do need to say this to the team at XOXO 5th Avenue- Guys, you HAVE to do better than that. You have beautiful, exclusive products in your boutique. I don't want you guys to lose customers, like myself, because of shipping or customer service. Sorry to have to give you such tough love. (and if anyone needs the receipts - I have ALL OF THE EMAILS)
Anyways, if you guys want to check them out you can do so here - XOXO 5th Ave. Use my code "Marti" to save some dollars. |
