We all are aware by now that I have quite the sorted past with Kylie Cosmetics. A few months ago I said that I would NEVER purchase anything from this company ever again for one main reason- THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. So, I did my last video in December. However, gifts? Gifts aren't my fault right? Right. So, when this Pink package showed up at my door, I surely wasn't going to send it back. What does a blogger do? Darling, she blogs. In this video, I discuss the #packaging #swatches and #demo some of the Social Media Juggernaut brand's products outside of my run of the mill liquid lipsticks. Instead today, I'm doing first impressions on the Kyshadow "Take Me On Vacation" pallet and the famed "The Wet Set" highlighter palette. These are two palettes that I've been dying to try. So, what did I think about them? Oh- and my Diamonds are back!!! (Good looking out with that new iMovie update Apple) "Take me on vacation" kyshadow palette Her Kyshadow palettes have been reviewed so much and so talked about, that I almost wanted to skip this but, I wanted this palette for so long that DAMMIT, when I finally got it, I was going to review it. So- in order to really dive into this, I need to discuss my storied history with this palette. I remember a few years ago (I want to say two years ago), this was released as the brands first ever Summer Collection. I remember I wanted the mini-matte lipstick set and THIS- the take me on vacation Kyshadow palette. The campaign pictures were gorgeous. Honestly, some of the best I've ever seen. I'm not sure who the model was but she was gorgeous and that Kyshadow palette was going to give me that look. That being said, I'm always on the hunt for a deal- 52 dollars on an eyeshadow palette, that's no deal- especially when I had never tried the brand before. Right now for the 4th of July sale it's on sale for 41.60. That makes it 20% off- but this sale is only until 12 pm today. The first time I tried to order it myself is when it was 40% off during the "After-Christmas" sale. There was some mix-up with the company and my damn package was shipped BACK. You can see my thoughts on that one on right here - Why I will never buy Kylie Cosmetics again. So- I didn't get it then. Well, within the last week this package showed up on my door. Now- I don't want to say for sure but, I'm pretty sure this was either a gift from someone that I no longer speak to (insert eye roll here) or it was just a really REALLY delayed shipment so- now I have it so, lets get into it. The packaging, is so beautiful it's perfect for a Vacation. Even the colors remind you of the beach. All types of Sand and the most beautiful turquoise blue pigment that I have ever seen. Now, I haven't used it yet but, just presentation wise...beautiful. The palette on the outside follows the same light beige camo theme as the rest of the collection. Upon opening it, there is a large mirror and a well that contains one of the Kylie Cosmetics dual-ended brushes. IThis palette was a great departure from her normal nine-pan palettes. This one has 18 shades. A mix of shimmer and matte shades. The shades themselves- although they had some of the weakest swatches that I have ever seen, on the eye. The shades are beautiful. Also, this is a brush that I used a lot more than any other palettes I've had that have come in the palette- multiple urban decay palettes, and a few Anastasia's, I think maybe a smashbox too but, I've never had a brush that I was able to use as much as this one. I feel as though it is a very neutral palette and I feel like, it could be best used like I did- to create a light neutral summer look that has enough shades to really create a multitude of looks. It's really one of my favorite palettes. You can check it out right here Take Me on Vacation palette. The wet set You guys know by now that I LOVE a good blinding highlight. So, when this "The Wet Set" Palette dropped and if I remember it might have been during the same collection. The "Vacation" collection. I'm not going to lie and say that I already wanted it but, I found it so so interesting. I had never seen a formula like it. I can't remember if my love for blinding highlight was already as advanced as it is now but, I remember seeing influencers and even Kylie herself demo-ing it and I was smitten. If you read the back of the package it does read "pressed powder highlighter" but, it's not. It's like a cream highlighter but, even wetter than that. The name is perfect for it. I honestly can't compare it's texture to anything that I'm familiar with. It's like wet sand. That's what it feels like. So- I'm all over the place with the texture and it's because it is. It's ALL OVER THE PLACE, in the best of ways. Now to the test-out. You guys- this could be the most blinding highlight that I own. Yes better than Laura Gellar, yes, better than Benefit and even better than OFRA. Now, it takes a lot for me to say that being that I LOVE my OFRA so much but, this stuff is amazing.
Let's backpedal a little bit to the packaging. When this palette first launched, it was held in the same packaging as the rest of the collection- that beige/ tan camo and gold writing and I LOVED that packaging but, the new one tops it. So the new one is the sleek black packaging with silver accents. I love it and all of the little touches like putting Kylie's name all over the interior of the box. Like who spends THAT much time on the interior of a box? It comes with a huge mirror and the four shades. They have kind sexy-ish names but, they really have nothing to do with the shades. This quad palette a white champagne, a rose gold, a gold and a darker bolder gold. It's a little steep coming in at 62 bucks and I very rarely say this but, I'd say it's worth it. Now keep in mind that mine was a gift but, I mean- I really like it. If you do want to try it. It's on sale for 49.60 so - now is a good time to give it a shot. Get it right here at The Wet Set.

This weeks edition of First Impression Fridays is all about Kylie. Kylie, Kylie, Kylie. I have made no secret of the fact that this is my all-time favorite brand to dress my pout. Their matte liquid lipkits and glosses have been a staple of mine ever since my first ever purchase. You will never walk to my glam station and not see a Kylie box on it. However, I had ALWAYS heard about their terrible customer service, although I personally had never experienced it myself, THAT IS until the last month or so- after one run-in after the other, I had to end that relationship. So this is my LAST EVER review of a Kylie Cosmetics product and it is on the Kylie Cosmetics High Gloss bundle. They retail for 100 bucks for a 7 gloss bundle and 16 dollars for a single gloss. So join me as we talk about the gloss, try it out, swatch it, look at the packaging and above ALL else, listen to me rant and rave about this HORRIBLE experience. |
