April is always a month that I am impartial to because it's my BIRTH MONTH. Yup April 21st 1987 a little makeup lover was born. This year the April Glam Bag theme was Fresh Spring Beauty Picks. I love the theme because that's what Spring represents to me. Fun, fresh and new. That feeling of restarting or resetting. For me and my other April babies, it's the start of a new year. I think ipsy wanted to give a theme of restarting or Fresh. Not fresh anything just fresh! Think new lighter hues. Letting go of cranberry lips in favor of light baby pink gloss. Putting away our big heavy jackets for fun little sundresses. No more boots, it's time for sandals. You get the idea. The weather is absolutely perfect. It's perfect for riding with the top down, dining el fresco, and pic-nicking in the park. This bag is so fresh, so fun and outgoing. Now, it does feature a pattern of Lemons. Why Lemons? I have no idea. I guess maybe Lemons are considered fresh? But so are roses, strawberries, really there are a lot of options to choose from aside from Lemons. But, I'm not mad at it. I'm already seeing it as a clutch with a fun navy blue dress or even better a romper, perfect for a BBQ or a fun lunch date. This fun little bag included products that will make your skin glisten and it features great brands to build your look. It also included a lovely lotion to make your skin super soft and it's right at the time when we're starting to show more skin. This bag was make-up heavy but, I liked pretty much all of the products. So, lets get started. Check out the video below to see me actually trying and giving my honest opinions for the first time. Featured products (in order of use)

Ok here's the ipsy deets- ipsy is a subscription service that sends 5 beauty products to you every month. It's not little no-name brands either, I've received products from some of my favorite brands like Too Faced, Morphe, an Tarte to name a few. Something else I like about ipsy, is that you can pause or end your subscription whenever you want to and there's no punishment for it. If you choose to pause it too, you can always resume, again with no punishment. If you do want to become an ipster you can sign up or check it out right here - Become an ipster These pictures posted are not my own they are stock photos taken from online sources, cited in the captions. Tarte Double Duty Beauty Base Tape Hydrating PrimerThis bag definitely started with bang. I'm not sure if you guys are familiar with Tarte Beauty but, I am. I have a lot of their products ranging from eye shadows to lipsticks to mascara, this is a brand that usually comes through. After buying their Shape Tape foundation and receiving the AMAZING Shape Tape Concealer (sent to me by ipsy), you can imaging my response when I heard that they would soon be releasing a primer in the same vein as the rest of the Shape Tape collection. Imagine my surprise when ipsy came through AGAIN and featured a sample of this primer! That's something I love about ipsy, they give some of the most sought after brands and products in their glam bags. It was the first thing out of the bag that I tried. I always test products out before researching so that I can give an honest first response instead of being swayed by reviews and company promises. So, what did I think of it. Well first of all, it's incredibly hydrating. I mean it's like my skin was drinking a smoothie. It slid on so easily. It really reminded me a lot of my all-time favorite primer the Hangover RX by Too Faced Cosmetics. I decided to stick with the tarte Shape Tape theme and used the Shape Tape foundation on top of it. I'm not sure why they chose to name it "Base Tape" instead of "Shape Tape", which would make it fit in with the rest of the line. I'm assuming they changed it slightly to give it some space from the Shape Tape line, which had a sort of clumsy and flawed roll-out. I really love this primer though. It smells great, it feels amazing, and it did help my make-up stay on all day. Whenever I run out of primer, I'll be giving the full-sized version a shot. "This brand new primer does more than keep your makeup in place—it’s loaded with healthy ingredients, like jojoba and grapeseed extracts, to help keep your skin hydrated for 12 full hours." is what the ipsy website had to say about this primer. I will tell you, it really did keep my make-up on and it lasted and lasted. Also- the softening, all-vegan ingredients are evident in how healthy it leaves your face even after it's removed. I'm not sure, why it was given in a container with a direct skinny nozzle, I'd never apply it straight to my face- a few drops on the my hand is all it took to cover my face. A little goes a long way with that stuff. Looking at the Tarte Website, it seems like there is a revamp of the Shape Tape family. It's changing to a much fresher look. It has a lot more happy and lighter feel to it. The new line features a new formula of foundation called the "Face Tape" and a new setting spray called "Stay Spray". This new part of the Shape Tape family almost resembles a skin care line. If you want to check it out or get your own right here- Deals
Nomad Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Champagne Reef Eye shadow is near and dear to my heart. In the March ipsy GlamBag, I got a beautiful iridescent purple from Space Case cosmetics (which I'm wearing in this video) - the next single pan eye shadow had a lot to live up to. I often complain about single shadows simply because it's too many little things to carry when I can just use a palette and be done with it. So this one from Nomad Beauty is a guilded gold. Nomad Beauty has sent a few products in the past. I received an all-over pink powder from them and at the time I didn't really understand how a pink powder worked. The packaging though was so nice and this eye shadow was no exception. This one has the same packaging. It's the tiniest little black compact and I always appreciate packaging as you know by now. As far as packaging goes, this one was the same thing. Aside from the little compact the box. The box was beautifully decorated with little palm trees, leaves, all kinds of crap. It was decorated with ink on every part of it. And when you open it, the interior is black. Now on to the actual product itself- when you open it up, it has a big "NB" stamped on it, another one of those little extras that I appreciate. For this look, I used it as an inner/tear duct highlight. It had a little bit of kick up on it but, I was surprised at how beautiful the gold was on my brush. After applying it to my tear duct, it was such a bright blinding gold. Needless to say, I loved it! The color payout was insane. This eye shadow was also so easy to blend, which honestly was a little surprising due to the fact that it was two different brands and textures of eye shadows. I can't wait to create a look where that eye shadow is featured- like maybe a good cut-crease or something. Anyway- yeah, I adore that eye shadow. I couldn't find this exact shade on their website but, this is the closest one - Intense Eye Shadow. I didn't see this shade in single pan but it is available in the "Antilles" palette, which makes sense because I love the beach and this tropical palette has so many beautiful shades. To see the whole palette- click here - Antilles Palette. I was happy to see too that they do sale palettes and in the same vein as the company name- each one is named for a destination. Names like "Marrakesh" and "Antellis", where this one came from. Champagne Reef (this shade) is a gorgeous bright gold and I see myself gravitating to it often. Something I did see as a little odd, they sell single shadows, palettes, and packs of single shadows- like 6 shadows but, they are all separate. I feel like instead of getting six separate shadows when I could just get a palette for 37 dollars, which isn't bad. Deals
OFRA Cosmetics Rodeo Drive HighlighterOk- we need to discuss highlighters. About a year ago, I hated the idea of highlighters. My mind as a young woman from SouthWest Louisiana, I detested the idea of looking "sweaty". But then I saw the most beautiful ad from Anastasia Beverly Hills and the girl in the ad was so glowy and gorgeous, that I realized you don't look sweaty- you glow. So- I started to research and in that research, I looked and looked and looked and one name kept coming up- OFRA. I kept seeing this big disc that people were freaking out over. I have tried different items from OFRA (all sent by ipsy)- I've had a lipstick and an eye shadow but they are known for, their bread and butter, their "Ruby Woo", their "Great Lash Mascara" of the OFRA empire is their highlighters. When you look up highlighters- the OFRA highlight should be pictured. Do you get what a big deal this is yet? When Nordstrom Rack had a sale on OFRA, I took the opportuniy to FINALLY get my hands on one. Unfortunately the most popular shade was gone but, I saw the similar "Blissful" and snatched it. I LOVED that highlighter. It's so blinding , it's milled in a superfine way that makes it feel almost wet. It's a powder but, it almost feels like a cream. The payout when it's applied to the skin is AMAZING! I find sometimes, highlighter brings more attention to pores but ,this one doesn't. It just makes you glow. In the month of April, they started offering a "Pick your own product" option. Imagine my shock and delight when one of the options was the most popular shade "Rodeo Drive." instantly I picked it. And of course it was beautiful. It's slightly more gold than "blissful" so now I have a golden glow and a rose gold glow. Also- I like the packaging makeover, because they kept the original shape and indentations but just refreshed it. When I reviewed it for this video it wasn't really a first impression because I had been using "Blissful" for so long but, formulas change, packaging changes, and it's good to see different shades on different shades. As I'm looking at their website the packaging online still differs slightly from mine (it has an opaque plastic cover instead of the usual clear top). I loved this highlighter but, I knew I would. I thought it was a little sample size but nope- FULL SIZED BABY!!! If you want to try it for yourself check it out right here- Rodeo Drive or you can also see my previous shade here (which oddly enough isn't on sale.) Blissful Deals
Seraphine Botanicals Berry+ Juice - 100% Vegan Lip Gel in Rose CurrentSeraphine Botanicals is a brand that I see a lot in ipsy shipments. With a name that includes the word "Botanicals", we all know that it's going to be pretty healthy and plant based. This particular line of lip gels "Berry + Juice" 100% Vegan Lip Gel" features beautiful shades "Cherry Compote", a beautiful red, "Pink Berry", which looks exactly like it sounds. And the shade I was sent, Rose Current. I've gotten a blush, an eyeliner and now comes a lip gloss from this brand, I have no complaints about any of them. This brand is VERY environmentally friendly, which honestly for me isn't a deal breaker. But, they are vegan, they don't test on animals and most of, if not ALL of their ingredients are natural. Something that really stood out to me is that they even use soy ink in their packaging. Enough about the ingredients lets talk about the product itself. So- this product is marketed as a "lip gel". Trust me, I just had this conversation with someone about how many ways they can reinvent the lip gloss but this truly is different. It's very pigmented but here's what I love about it. Here's what change the game for me, unlike every other lip gloss, satin or anything else- this stuff last and last and last. ipsy did send a full size sample. And I must say that, it came in a gorgeous box with the flowers painted on it and the brand name on it. When you take it out it's so elegant- I get Chanel "Matte Liquid Lip Colour vibes" from the packaging. Something I really enjoyed about it is the amount of shimmer in it. It's so glittery that it almost looks more like a lip topper. The shade we got was "Rose Current", which is a beautiful mauve color. I want to call it a mauve-y nude shade but, it's so glittery, that there's no way that it could be nude. For a gloss, it's a very opaque color. Again, odd for a gloss. It's very pigmented. You see it appear on your lips, the same way that it looks in the tube. It's called a "Lip Gel" but, it's not thick or heavy. My favorite thing besides the actual shade, is the fact that it left my lips feeling so moisturized. It's everything that I wanted GlamGlow's "Poutmud" lip treatment to be. (Yes that was lip shade). It's good for your lips, it looks beautiful. The packaging is lovely, I can't really find anything wrong with it. The component is so pretty that I almost want to leave it out when it can be seen. It comes in at 19 dollars which may seem pretty steep but, I'm not going to lie to you- I think it's worth it. Yes, I do know that I'm the person who said "I wouldn't pay over 10 dollars for any gloss." but, I didn't know about this one. I love it and it's worth the money. You can check it out here if you want to try it. - Berry + Juice lip Gel Deals 20% off of your first purchase. Free shipping above 50 dollars. Delectable by Cake Beauty - Triple Citrus Blend Body Butter CreamI haven’t always been THAT much of a lotion girl. I mean, I do use it when needed but, it’s never something that is a big deal. My ipsy subscription changed that for me. I swear to you, ipsy sends the absolute best lotions, in the best sizes to keep in your handbag. One of my favorite lotion brands is “Delectable Beauty”. So, let’s start with the name. With a name like “Delectable” what is the first thing you think of? These little tubes of lotion pack a big, sweet and flavorful punch. With names like “Sweet Mint” and “Triple Citrus Buttercream”- you can bet that they smell AMAZING. This particular variation, “Triple Citrus Blend” smells pretty good- not going to lie to you, “Sweet Mint” did smell better but, this one is a close second. The packaging is so fun and perfect for this theme. A fresh (see what I did there?) bright coral tube, with lemon yellow writing. It’s cute! OMG! I literally just got the tie-in to the bag design. This is a citrus based lotion. It’s scent it very morning friendly. If you’re sleepy believe me, it will wake you up and energize you. My biggest sleep fighting time isn’t really in the morning. It’s the middle of the day slump. 12-1 o’clock. I might as well just stick it straight up my nose and I might STILL fall asleep. Anyways, enough about my energy deficiencies-back to the butter cream. The texture of it is light, lighter than you might expect (or at least lighter than I expected) for a product called “Butter Cream”. In the summer, my hands get really dry because I sweat so much, it starts to dehydrate me. So this cream really reinvigorates them. They look better and feel better. Mostly I use it on my hands but- honestly wherever you are unexpectadely ashy, you can put it there. Again, I feel like the ipsy bag gave a pretty good size sample at 1 fluid ounce. As I said before, perfect for my bag. Looking at their website. I LOVE the way that this full-sized product is packaged! Instead of being in the cute little tube that I have it comes in a jar. And I must say, it's a lot of bang for your buck coming in at 15 bucks for 200 ml! It's huge you guys! An amazing deal! It's currently on sale for 12 bucks but, it IS currently out of stock but- just leave your email and they will let you know when it's back. final grade Ok, if I was giving out a grade for this glam bag. I'd give it a solid "B". This was a pretty good bag with beautiful things and products that I plan to use over and over again. I also liked that this months bag featured products that help you with all of the stages of beauty. A lotion for your skin, primer, eye shadow and highlighter for a glam night out, and a lip gel for anytime your running out of the house quickly.
Fave Product: This month it was extremely hard to pick a favorite product, this is such a great bag, I'd have to go with the Tarte, base tape. Least Fave product: This month it was extremely hard to pick a least favorite product as well but, I guess I'd have to go with the Delectable Body Butter - there's nothing wrong with it though, I just see myself using this one the least. Overall Grade: Solid B This month was a good one. If you want to check out this service or even sign up to become and ipster. Go ahead and click the pic of the glam bag.

My Hiatus From Ipsy I took a three month break from ipsy. It wasn't anything that they were doing wrong...Well, actually I'm lying. I was getting WAY too many cleansers and moisturizers. Like how big is my face that I would need THAT much moisturizer? Between ipsy, my constant ULTA redemptions, TJ Maxx and Nordstrom Rack trips and general love of shopping, I wound up with so many products that I hadn't even opened or tried out yet that I needed a break. I had no more room for five additional products a month coming to my house. So, December 2017 was the last bag that I received before I paused my account. Which, shout out to ipsy! That is an awesome option. So- I paused my account for three months, they don't charge you as long as the bag is paused. They didn't bother me, email me reminding me or anything like that. They just gave me my space - (exhales deeply)- so why can't all relationships be like that? I actually had forgotten about ipsy until I received an email to track the bag. It was like an ex texting you out of the blue. ipsy came back with a BANG! I'm not saying we're engaged but, we are very happy. Enter the April 2018 bag. All of that being said, since restarting my account, I've launched a YouTube channel, so the ipsy bag reviews have changed. I will not only review each product in detail here but, ipsy bags will not be featured as part of my First Impression Friday series on the YouTube channel. So, welcome to the new ipsy bag review. Social Butterfly April 2018 brought me the beautiful Pink "Social Butterfly" bag. It's so cute! So, let me preface this by saying that, my family's last name is "Papillion", so I am extremely partial to anything that has a butterfly on it. I like this little bag as a clutch, it's perfect for Spring and Summer. This was a pretty eye heavy bag, containing an eyeliner and a bending brush. It also came with a cleanser, a hand lotion, and a setting powder. Overall, they did a pretty good job! Check out the video and each of the reviews on the blog and if you like what you see, go ahead and become an ipster! You can sign up right here, BE AN IPSTER and check out the video below. SKIN&CO ROMA Truffle Therapy Cleansing CreamSo first of all. I LOVE the packaging. It's just so simple, elegant, and classy. I know that when something features Truffles, it instantly evokes a high-end feeling and the font and wording on the outside add to this. Also, I LOVE the scent, it just smells so fresh. I've used this brand before, I used their Truffle Cleansing Oil, which I had mixed feelings about, I have used many makeup removers that got the job done better than this one but, it was free from an ipsy point redemption so I didn't complain. This cleanser is extremely moisturizing. It actually feels more like a moisturizer than a cleanser. That being said, one issue that I have with it, is that it is a CLEANSER, not a moisturizer and I feel as though, it's not the best cleanser. It didn't give me a deep clean at all. I tested this one out before I reviewed the rest of the glam bag. I have been using it in my travel makeup bag and I love it for after a flight or a long time traveling, your skin will dry out and this will really put the hydration back into your face. Unfortunately, it would be far better as a moisture mask then it is being marketed as a cleanser. Therefore, even though, I truly do love this product, it's just not good as a cleanser. This being said..it gets no diamond. 🚫🚫🚫 But, don't take my word for it. I didn't see the size they sent us on the website but, the full size is 35 buck - check it out yourself - Skin&Co. Ciate London - Starstruck Double - Ended Stamp Liquid Liner This product was very weird to me. I just didn't get it. Ciate London is one of my favorite brands as far as eyeliners go, their "Fierce Flicks" eyeliner is my go to black liner. I also like their nail products (all of which I've received from ipsy). They are always super smooth and very pigmented, this one was no exception. The issue with me, came with the stamp portion of it. I was excited when I first read the name because I assumed that it would have been like a cat-eye or a wing stamp. You know, to help those of us who have trouble trying to get that perfect straight wing. That would have been a great and helpful tool, right girls? Or...we could make that stamp into a star...Yes, that's what it had....A STAR. Now, I personally have no issue with stars. I rather like them actually but, I just can't picture myself doing a look with a star on my eye. Maybe for the "Fresh-tival" look that I did a while back for Tutorial Tuesday, a Halloween look or a KISS concert. I don't know when, why or where I would need that. Now, the actual liner itself was great. Went on easy, easy to control, didn't skip and very pigmented but, due to the fact that they kind of pushed the stamp as a big feature. I can't give this one a diamond. 🚫🚫🚫 So - I couldn't find this exact liner on their website (maybe someone realized that it was dumb) but, you can see all of their eyeliners at this link Ciate London. Delectable by Cake Beauty: Ultra Nourishing Hand Cream Ok. So, when I saw a hand cream in my ipsy bag, I sighed. Lotions and potions aren't usually something that I get excited about with ipsy. I really lean on ipsy for makeup and makeup brushes. However, after trying this hand lotion, I am in love with it. The smell! You guys, I can't even talk to you about the smell. The scent is called "sweet mint and cream" and it smells exactly like that. The best way that I can describe it is, it smells like mint chocolate chip ice cream! And on top of the smell, it's a great product in itself. A nourishing hand cream is a good way to describe it. With doing my make up, especially on shoot days, I wind up washing my hands multiple times in a day, combine that with constantly cleaning up after my sweet little yorkie Louis, and working with kids as a teacher, my hands get extremely dry with all of the washing. But, this fixed my little hands right up. I really am itching to try it on my feet too, maybe in a pedicure. I love this product and truly, I have nothing bad to say about it. It gets a diamond for sure. 💎💎💎 I'm looking at their website, which I love the design of it, and this product is listed for six bucks there is a lot of other snack-worthy things too on the site. If you sign up for the email list, they will also give you 20% off of your next purchase. Check it out here - Delectable Glamour Dolls: Romantic Rose Blending Brush Glamour Dolls. Just saying the name gives you a certain vibes right? You feel like quite the badass. I have used their brushes before. I have the Lisa Frank edition blush brush from them, which also came from ipsy. Their brushes are always beautiful. This one is no exception, it's mostly cream but, has rose gold trim. So, elegant. And then the bristles are white and pink. Just a gorgeous brush to have on your vanity or, in my case, at your glam-station. So, I used this brush for the first time during this taping to blend out my eyeshadow and let me tell you, it's awesome! I used it for eyeshadow but, I really feel like this would be a good tool for blending out concealer. Or to apply powder when setting anything on your face. It's pretty cool. The blush brush was cool but, this brush is awesome! I love it. I'm already kind of replacing a few other brushes with this one. It blending my crease and transition color so so well. It's like it spreads the pigment around but, just where you want it to go. I also like the way it fit my hand. It was very easy to use. I have nothing bad to say about. Diamond all the way. 💎💎💎 It's kind of steal, coming in at just four dollars - if you want it, you can check it out here. Glamour Dolls BellaPierre Cosmetics: Banana Setting Powder BellaPierre is a cosmetics brand that I have grown quite used to. I now have their Cream Highlight and Contour kit,( which if you remember correctly, that kit beat out Anastasia Beverly Hills kit), as well as, their blush (which I got in another ipsy bag), and now I have a banana setting powder to add to the collection. So, I said this on the video but, I'll say it again here. I was so incredibly happy with the sample size that they gave me. It was so big for a sample. I loved the packaging , it's very elegant in it's a appearance. It has a chic black top with BP on the top. It's very classy. Now onto the actual product itself, it is a very very smooth powder, like its been milled and milled and milled. It's super fine. What through me off about it was the fact that it has glitter in it. When I see a setting powder, literally the first that comes to my mind is to bake with it, which I did. I was a little nervous to try to bake with glitter but, it wasn't too bad. It felt different on my skin from my Revolution or Cover Girl loose powders. It was fine to bake with but, I think it might be better as a spot setter. Like just to set my under eye or a blemish, something like that. I love this powder though. So - it gets a diamond. 💎💎💎 It might be a new or improved product because it's ALL over their website home page. Check it out here! Bella Pierre Overall- Final Grade So, I loved the actual little glam bag itself. Its well made and so so cute. Most of the products, I loved. And the ones that I didn't love, I didn't hate, I just had some weird issues with them but, I'm sure that I will use all of the beauty samples in this bag until they run out. All of them are good practical items. So overall, the April Ipsy glam bag gets a diamond. They did a really good job this time. 💎💎💎. Until next month, you guys!
