12/30/2017 0 Comments 2017- Diamond LisTHello and Happy Holidays! I hope you have had a Great Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas or whatever you celebrate. Welcome to the first ever Diamond List- this will be our annual "Best of" list. Think of the "Allure Best in Beauty" awards type of situation. These are the top 10 products that I came across this year. These are all beauty products, it ranges from hair, skin, and beauty products. And in preparation for the end of the year- we're going to countdown from 10- 1 just like the ball drop! So, I hope you enjoy this list. All of these products have been tried multiple times and are not sponsored or paid for in anyway. I really stand by each of these products. So - lets start the countdown! Enjoy. 10 - John Frieda 3 day Straight flat iron spray .I reviewed this product and one of my earlier post. I fell in love with it instantly many products promise to keep your hair straight from multiple wash is this one actually delivered on its promise. The name John Freida hair has been synonymous with straight and smooth hair ever since the launch of his frizzies product line From the first ever frizzies to the John Freida color glaze and now this 10 day streak treatment he very rarely disappoints. My hair is notoriously difficult to blow dry, it’s easier to get it straight with a flat iron but I don’t really like to use that machine on it. This product made my hair so straight and so smooth after a blow dry. Not only that, but it cut my drying time in half and after the blowout flat Arning it a gave my hair a totally different texture. Elected feeling smooth and soft with movement and a large amount of Sean. Long story short, I love this product. Although it is a drugstore brand it is easily my favorite hair discovery of 2017 and I found it for only 10 bucks! I’d say that it’s hands down better than any prestige product that I’ve used this year. Also and maybe a preview of next years diamond list I recently tried the John Freida 10 day hair tamer please or glass, and surprise it’s awesome too. 9- Too faced "Chocolate solei matte bronzer" Hi my name is Martinique and I am a make-up addict. Now that that’s out-of-the-way, I’m not too big on bronzer us but it turns out I just haven’t been using the right one so when also sent me a redemption coupon to try the Too Faced chocolate Soleil Matt bronzer I had to give it a shot. Two face is one of the premier beauty brands that I have been using even though it’s been off for a while I’ve recently started to use their products. This bronzer is the best contour I own. I was really really upset us with the next highlight contour cream do it when I ran out of it I really didn’t think I’d ever be able to replace it. This teeny tiny little sample of this bronzer has changed my highlight contour game. It warms up your face without using the litter or shine I know I’m Matt bronzer sounds crazy and I wasn’t sure how it was going to work but it is so good. I know two face is a little bit pricey but is soon as I run out of this one I will be buying more. A sweep under the cheekbones and all the temples and on the sides of your nose will change your whole look. Also, as with most of the chocolate line the smell is beyond it is such a sweet and chocolatey smell and I can’t figure out how they get it to smell so good. I have tried many bronzers in my day, including the benefit hula primer bronzer, the Kardashian beauty bronzer, and multiple others that I can’t even remember. This one ever since the first time I tried it out has become part of my every day beauty routine if I have make up on, the chocolate Soleil bronzer is included in there. And it lasts so long. I have had to sample for quite some time now and I use it every single day and I’m not out of it yet but is soon as I do run out of it I will be purchasing the full-size version of it. 8. prada candy parfumeMy love story with this product started as so many of them do, in an ULTA mailer. There was a sample of it in the mag. I took it out and smelled it. The name symbolizes the scent perfectly. I know that this scent didn’t come out in the year 2017 but, I got it and used it for this entire year. Now due to the fact that I have migraines I can’t really use this product all the time not just Prada but any of the perfume will usually give me some kind of headache I leave at one. But when I am able to wear this perfume I get people asking me constantly what smell it is. This snow may be a little sweet for some, OK a lot sweetie but I love us weeks now anytime it’s not like a cake or a cupcake is a win. This perfume smells like vanilla with hints of Caramell and a whole lot of sugar. And the deal I got on it was incredible. It retails for $100 but I got that one into variations of the sent for $78 at Macy’s. My mom always had a signature scent, hers being Escape by Calvin Klein and I have inherited this trait. This Prada candy perfume is definitely my signature said it will be for years. I love that when people smell they said they automatically associate it with me also I like that he gets on everything after a whole Louis is someone else Nelson they smell that probably candy perfume it’s in my car it’s in my house and I love that. 7. benefit boi-ing concealerIf you’ve ever seen one of my tutorial Tuesdays this product is always featured on them. I got this product is a free sample from ULTA and it has let me down things. This concealer the perfect color for me is the perfect amount of coverage. I call it a magic eraser. It’s great for sharpening eyebrows sharpening the line of your lipstick and concealing any imperfections you have on your face. Even if you mess up your mascara and he gets on your eyelid you can even use that with a good concealer brush to erase whatever mistakes you made. And I have to give props to alter for this being a free sample it’s a really good size. And as soon as I run out of this one I will be purchasing the full-size version. I know benefit cosmetics is a little bit pricey but in this case with this particular concealer you definitely get what you pay for. And one more really good thing about it it blends out very easy it blends in this late into your foundation and gives your natural perfected look. 6. AnastasIa beVerly hills liquid lipsticksAnastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks are synonymous with the best. Anybody who has anything to do with make up knows how amazing these are. This particular beauty brand is a little pricey. It's totally worth every penny of the 20 bucks per liquid lipstick. That being said, I literally yelled out when I found this set of three "mini" liquid lipsticks for 24.99 at ULTA! Like, how does that even make sense. You get three beautiful matte nudes in a set for 24.99!? I know that the word "mini" might make this deal seem like it's not that good but, their idea of "mini" isn't what you think. Colourpop cosmetics has minis in a set that literally look like they are made for Barbie and her home-girls. (You can see my review at this link). This set blew my mind. .08 oz. each as compared to the full size 0.11 oz, isn't very mini to me. They are matte, the fit in everything (great for travel) and all around, I just love them. 5. Copper spice palette by morphe cosmeticsThis palette from Morphe has been on my "wish list" for quite some time. I have been waiting to use this highly recommended beauty brand for almost a year now. After hearing about them for years and years and years but, never investigated them because I never felt that I could afford them. So, I finally went ahead and looked them up. I was pleasantly surprised at the prices! In a world of 40-50 dollar eye shadow palettes, I was slightly skeptical of the frugal price point. So, I went online and after watching tutorial after tutorial and reading review after review, and talking to my family's resident makeup artist (shout out to Stephanie!!!), the reviews were all STELLAR so, after having it in my cart for months on end, I went ahead and ordered four of their palettes. I ordered two HUGE palettes and two of the smaller ones. 35 N- 35 Color Matte Eyeshadow Palette (23 dollars), the 350M- 35 Color Matte Nature Glow Eyeshadow Palette (23 dollars), it's so damn hard to find matte color palettes. Then, I wanted to get free shipping, (their site offers free domestic at 75 bucks), I ordered a combo set for 34 dollars which included the bronzed mocha palette and THIS little number. The Copper Spice palette. I will be honest with you, after receiving this order in the mail, I thought that this would have been my least favorite. But, after using it for a tutorial Tuesday, I fell IN LOVE with it. Now, all of the palettes are awesome, don't get me wrong. But, this one has a beautiful mix of shimmers and mattes and honestly every single color can be used on any given day. I guess because of the Holidays and the fall, I have used it so many times. The colors are super blendable. The consistency is SUPER smooth. I'm just totally obsessed with this one. I love it. I will be reviewing the other ones at a later date but, this one made the list. 4. Peter thomas roth 24 K Gold maskPeter Thomas Roth is another beauty brand that has been on my radar for a while. I always follow a lot of beauty influencers so that I can keep my eye on the trends and to learn new products and techniques. Around the Golden Globes, I started to see so many "it girls" getting ready for the show using this sparkly, beautiful and decadent mask. So first of all, the name "24K Gold Mask" instantly sounds like rich. It sounds like money. Very Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (yes, I LOVE Bravo reality TV). Names aside, I was watching so many people use it and get beautiful results. However, I was not going to pay 80 dollars for it just to test it out. Thankfully, my favorite store (well, top 3 for sure), Macy's had a meet your mask sampler pack for 25 dollars, its now available at Sephora, ULTA, and a most places where PTR beauty is sold. It came with this mask along with four others. This mask is amazing and here's why. So, it is said to "revitalize", "lift", "firm", "brighten", and "refresh". I really believe that it hits ALL of those marks. It's got caffeine, which is supposed to tighten and firm. It's got real colloidal gold in it which helps to smooth and tone. I don't want to mislead anyone and make it seem as though the this is the famed Gold leaf mask or anything but, it does have visible flakes of gold in it. When you smooth it on, you can already see it brightening the skin. It's smooth as butter and has the jelly like consistency when you apply it. When you remove it, it's like the gold some kind of way soaks into your skin. It leaves a glow and it makes your face so smooth and soft. It's my go to pre-glam mask, I use it before I go to any event. It's just a great canvas to start your look. And I will be spending the 80 bucks to get the full-size version of it. I reviewed this entire collection in this post. 3.beau gauchis paris - smudge/ tache eyeshadow brushI had always been told that a product is only as good as the tools that you use to apply it. This has never been more true than it is with this brush. This is a huge fluffy eyeshadow brush and I have used it in almost every eye look that I have had since I received this beautiful tool in my Ipsy bag a few years ago. It is my go to beauty tool and is usually featured in my tutorial Tuesdays. It's so good to use when applying a transition color and also to blend out eyeshadow in the crease or as your final blending to smooth out and complete your look. It doesn't shed, it's easy to clean and it makes almost every eyeshadow go on smooth and unless you pack it on, it's very good to apply a very soft look. Another thing that I use it for is to blend out eyeshadow when I am a little heavy handed with the eyeshadow. It's a great diffuser. 2. Glamglow thirstCleanse cleanserThe first runner up is the GlamGlow ThirstyCleanse Cleanser. This is a daily cleanser game changer. GlamGlow is another very well known beauty brand, which comes complete with its own image. The big silver star, the packaging, even the name but, even though I am a sucker for good packaging, when it comes to GlamGlow, it's a not worth the price for only a name. So, when I bought this one to try out, it was the first one out of three that I reviewed- check out the review here. I love all of the GlamGlow products that I've tried but this one for sure is my all time favorite cleanser. This cleanser is the first one that I have ever tried that is a mud to foam cleanser. I had never heard of this method of application before either. Applying the mud to dry skin and massaging it into your skin and then you wet your hands and keep massaging and you keep adding the water until it becomes a creamy foam. After rinsing it off, it leaves your skin feeling super soft and so incredibly hydrated. Aside from that, it removes make up like a dream! Even long wear eyeliner and all-day matte liquid lipstick. The bright yellow color of the Brazilian clay. It smells like coconut, which is also in the ingredients which is intensely hydrating. The packaging is my favorite color, it smells like my favorite scent and even though it is very hydrating, it also to deep clean. After using it for a while, I actually ran out of it already, my skin looked so much better and way healthier. I love it. I will definitely be purchasing it again. This is a life long beauty find. 1. Too faced born this way foundationMy favorite beauty find of the year is the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. I was hearing about this damn foundation for so long! I remember the launch in 2016 and there was so much hype around it! I watched so many times on different bloggers, vloggers, and influencers and I thought that it couldn't be that good. I was obsessed with my BB Water foundation from Smashbox and when I ran out of it, I thought that it would be so hard to find its replacement. I bit the bullet and tried it out. Never has a bullet tasted so good. This foundation changed my life. I know that might be dramatic but, when you have skin imperfections, like acne, large pores, or discoloration - for me, its a lot of red spots and a scar on my cheek, it changed the game for me. It glides super smooth, it's very hydrating due to the coconut water in it and it just buffs out imperfections. And thats on one pass, I assume this would be at it's medium coverage level. It's oil-free and it stays on all day long. Every time I wear it, people ask me what I did to make my skin look so good. I sincerely think that it makes you look like you woke up like this but, we all It's a medium to full coverage foundation but, it feels like you aren't wearing anything at all. It is my go to everyday foundation and sometimes it is the only thing that I wear. It by far, gets my Diamond List no. 1! in closingSo thank you for checking out my first ever diamond list! Thanks for making my first 6 months with this blog such a good time for me. It has been a difficult year and beauty and shopping has ALWAYS been an awesome and fun escape for me. 12/28/2017 0 Comments November ipsy glambag reviewThe months glam bag was an "ALL ME" theme. It featured two different designs, which I always enjoy because I like the surprise of not knowing which one I'm getting. Lucky for me, I got the gold and bronze one that I wanted. Now, I was expecting it to be a lot of masks, aroma therapy and other spa type items. Like a "me time" deal but, it really wasn't that at all. They weren't bad things, some of it, I really enjoyed. There was a lot of make up type stuff which I used in last weeks Tutorial Tuesday (by the way, that's a link- so that you can see how they are used). I have to say, most of those products were great (except for one that broke while I was testing it) . The skin products were good too. I just think that, as I've said before, its not easy to impress me. So, lets get started. Today, I'm going from favorite to least favorite. Tarte Deluxe amazonian clay 12-hour blush in feisty Let's just get this out of the way, this product is absolutely amazing! I now have quite an assortment of brushes. The famed NARS "Orgasim" blush, blushes from Laura Gellar and an myriad of others but, this is already my favorite. Fist of all, we all know about Tarte Beauty and all of the great products that they have. I mean, the double-duty beauty lipsticks, the Tartiste liquid lip paints, and the entire amazonian clay line, they're awesome. I had high expectations for this product. It didn't disappoint. First off, this was a really good size for an ipsy sample. As soon as you open it, the design on the actual powder is beautiful. Its like a cute little picture. The product itself, I loved! I did a first impression on the tutorial and you can literally see my approval of it on my face. It is a beautiful rose-gold color and you guys know by now, that's what I love. A really bold, bright pink isn't my scene but, a natural looking hint of color is always a win for me. I don't know if it's going to last 12-hours, unfortunately I haven't gotten to wear it for that long but, I know that it did stay on until I washed my face that night. Something else that I liked about it, is how easily it blended into my contour and highlight. It warmed up my complexion and just added a gorgeous flush to my face. Long story short. I love it. Check it out on the Tarte website Overall grade: 10/10 - I love it. IT COSMETICS Your Skin But Better™ CC+™ Cream with SPF 50+ in Tan iT Cosmetics is another well-known brand that I've been using for a while now. I've used their "Your skin but, better" powder and more recently (from another ipsy bag) their poreless powder. I love and adore them both. And you all know of my adoration for the eyebrow line, including my all-time favorite eye pencil, the iT Brow Power pencil and the iT Brow lift. I haven't ever used their foundation to comment on but the "Bye-Bye Undereye" and "Bye Bye Concealers" are the bomb! BOMB, I tell you! So, every time I get an iT Cosmetics product in an ipsy bag, I get pretty stoked. This month, it was a CC+ Cream. It comes from the same "Your Skin But Better" line as my powder. So, I tried this out. I ALWAYS have a BB Cream, a CC Cream, or a Tinted moisturizer on hand because I don't really wear makeup during the week. I'd like to be all deep and say "It's my time to let my skin breath" or "I don't need makeup everyday" but, the fact is, is I always wake up late and have to rush out of the door. I don't have time for makeup. This is so fast! And it delivers so much payoff! This product is quoted as being your one step. I agree with that. It is a color corrector which I love because I have a lot of red in my skin and what surprised me is that it dries surprisingly matte which is another thing that I love. It also supposedly has anti-aging properties, I'm not entirely sure that it does or doesn't, I haven't used it long enough to make that call. I will say though that it goes on so smooth. This product also really hydrates the skin. I really love it. My all-time favorite tinted moisturizer is Clinique "City Block" but, they don't make that one anymore. This one is on par to replace it. Currently it's my favorite moisturizer. I love it. I have nothing bad to say about it. You can get this on their website, it retails for 38 bucks - here is the link iT Cosmetics but, you can also go to ULTA and pay the same exact price but also receive a free gift of the Bye-Bye Undereye concealer that I mentioned earlier. This offer is valid through Christmas Eve - Your Welcome Overall grade, it gets a 10/10. JONTEBLU Lip Liner Pencil in Spice A brownish nude lip liner is always a winner for me. This one is a beautiful shade BUT, I had some issues with it. So, first of all everyone knows by now that I have a deep and personal love for Kylie Cosmetics and especially her lip liners. They are so damn creamy and pigmented. But, it's not just Kylie, Colourpop (who I know gets compared to the Kylie lip liners), also makes a creamy formula. Even the NYX cosmetics lip liner, Fiona Stiles, A LOT of the lip liners that I own are far creamier and easier to apply than this one. This one was a little scratchy and it pulled and tugged at my lip, also I hated that I had to go over and over and over it to really make the color show up. My favorite thing about it, is the fact that it matches EVERYTHING, mostly because it's such a pretty and true nude. I think it did help my lipstick stay on. I can't tell for sure because I only really used it for the tutorial Tuesday and for the remainder of that night. which was a few hours but, it wasn't all day. It's an ok, lip-liner. I'm not going to throw it away BUT, it's certainly not something that will be in my makeup bag. This little lip-liner actually retails for only five dollars, which isn't really bad but, you get what you pay for. It's SLIGHTLY lower if you get it on Amazon, coming in at 4.50, if you go Prime. Check out their website at Jonteblu Cosmetics If you go with their website, save 15 percent by signing up for their email account. The site also offers free US shipping after spending 25 dollars. Unfortunately for this lip-liner, I have to give it an overall grade of 6/10. I love lip-liner and this just...didn't cut it for me. Trestique- mini brow pencilSo, we need to have a serious conversation about this TreStique mini brow pencil. Most of y’all know by now, that my brows are the first part of my routine. That being said, if my brows are not right my entire beauty routine gets thrown off. So when trying out this product for the first time on camera during (I'll put the link here so that you can see it in action ) tutorial Tuesday it broke. It broke and it messed up my brows and I had to go back and try to fix them. It took so long, it took so much extra time. That was the first issue and the reason that it broke is because it was so dry. I had to drag it over my brow so many times and I had to pull and pull and then it snapped. Another thing about it, the size of it was so tiny, I could hardly even hold it in my hand. Now, I get that it was an ipsy size, which is like a sample but, I’ve gotten so many that were awesome. I did go to the company site to check it out and I saw that, they do sell it in this exact size, along with a few other products. I guess in case you want to try it out and be disappointed for a cheaper amount. Similar to my lip liners, I like my eyebrow pencils to be creamy and easy to spread. If you watched my first ever (this is a link to check it out) tutorial Tuesday which was on brows, I like to really use a spoolie to make the brows look very natural. After applying this pencil I couldn’t move it again so whatever I drew stuck. I have at this point tried a lot of different bra products in my life. And I really believe that this one could be the single worst. I am honestly trying to find a Silver lining with this product, maybe the shade of it was perfect for my eyebrows but it was so difficult to apply that I’m not even sure about that. Also I think had it not broken the original shape of the point probably would have been good for straight lines and a good point at the end of the eyebrow but again it broke so I’m not really sure about that. This product retails at 10 dollars on their site and they do Free shipping on their website at 30 dollars and free returns. You can try it for yourself, maybe you'll have better luck than I did. Check it out here at Trestique Overall grade 4/10 - I was pretty disappointed in this one. Codage Paris Scrubbing cream This product was just another facial product. And I have to say it wasn’t bad, but apparently it wasn’t good either. It was very forgettable. When I was in the process of writing this blog, I forgot that I had tried it and I had to try it again. You have to apply it onto dry skin, which is already a plus for me because almost every cleanser that I use I apply that way. As far as the actual product goes, it was a little confusing to me because, when you squeeze the product onto your fingertips, you cannot see any exfoliant in it. I started to rub it in and then I started to add water to it and it worked pretty well but, it wasn't really memorable. It wasn't great but, it wasn't terrible. I found that it left my skin slightly drier but, I guess it did get the dead skin cells off. So--- honestly, that's all I have to say about it. It's pretty blah. Their website is extremely difficult to navigate when switching to the "World Site", due to the fact that it is a French product line. Made exclusively in France but, shipped world wide. It costs 16 Euros, which is 19.11 in American dollars. It costs an additional 8.36 to have shipped worldwide. Check it out here- Codage Paris Scrubbing Cream
