11/30/2017 0 Comments October- ipsy bag reviewThis month's Ipsy bag is their usual Halloween theme. However, this years bag is far more elegant than last year fun, cartooney bag. It's a deep almost wine red with a beautiful lace overlay and a cute little black bat on the zipper. The months catchphrase is "SpellBound" and for the most part, I was spellbound by this months shipment. It's all about the face this time, which is a great thing and improving your skin is always important. A mask, a face wash, an eyeliner, and a highlighter. I like it! I don't love it, I don't hate it. If you want to sign up for Ipsy and try it out for yourself remember that you can cancel at anytime. You can sign up here - Get your IPSY bag Urban decay 24/7 Glide on eye pencil in perversion This is kind of a cheat product for me because I have this product already in shade "Voodoo", a beautiful shimmery purple, which apparently isn't being made any more (I think it's the vice rebranding- but, it looks like the new shade "Delinquent"). Also, sidenote, I got it for free at ULTA due to being in their rewards program and being a platinum member. I've never had anything bad to say about Urban Decay besides that they are very pigmented and hard to remove which I certainly don't think that is a bad thing but, it's the only possible complaint that I can have. This color in particular is a beautiful pigmented matte black eyeliner that I love. It has absolutely no drag. It goes on super smooth and doesn't skip. It does stay on for most of the day but, last night when I wiped my eye, a lot of eyeliner came off on my hand but, I also still had a lot of it on my eye. Honestly, if I had to go back out, I could have wiped my under eye off and went on about my night. Also the packaging is so so beautiful. Urban Decay might be slightly pricey for some but, you definitely get what you pay for. Urban Decay is so popular that you can find these at a myriad of places including Macy's and Ulta. I suggest that you check these two out before ordering because they will often have some kind of deal, especially with the Holidays coming up. Without coupons, I see that they are all around 20 bucks. You can check it out here- this is the original Urban Decay website I give this one a 9/10- B- I love it but, it's just an eyeliner. I great eyeliner but, at this point, it takes a lot for an eyeliner to impress me. Doucce Freematic Highlighter in Solstice I had never heard of this brand before getting this bag and that's one of my favorite things about Ipsy. Ipsy exposes you to new and different brands. This one, was a good find. The color is very subtle. It's a good everyday hint of highlighter. It's not a bright blinding light but, I like it. It's easily blendable. I would only use it as a little touch at the end of your routine. Dust it on the bridge of your nose, top of the cheeks, and cupid's bow, that kind of thing. It can get to be WAY too much too fast if you go too crazy with it. It's buttery, it's smooth it's natural looking. It may not be the best for a glamazon, that never steps out without blinding folks but, I think it's just enough for most of us....in the day time. On the website, they mention using it on a wet brush. I haven't tried that yet but, I think I will the next time I use it. I think that might give the blinding beautiful glow that you might be looking for some times. And all six of the shades look pretty universal to me. Check it out right here - Doucce Website My grade for this one is an 9/10- B - I like it! I wish that it would be a little brighter and have a little more kick to it. I tend to overdue it though. I'll try it wet and update you later on it. iT cosmetics: bye bye pores pressed powder So, iT Cosmetics is one of my favorite beauty brands. I own or have tried quite a few of their products. The powder that I use every single day in my compact is from them. I use the "Your Skin But Better CC+ Airbrush Perfecting Powder", its a very long name to say, it makes you look airbrushed. I have tried different mascaras, and as you all know from last weeks Tutorial Tuesday, I LOVE their brow tools! I love my Brow Power brow pencil and I adore my "Brow Lift" brow highlighter. With the exception of their lip products, I haven't tried anything from them that I didn't love. Not that there is anything wrong with the lip products, they just didn't seem to be worth the money. ALL that aside, this powder is as good as the one I use everyday. It's translucent, which I love because shaded powder is so hard for me. Its like, one shade up and I'm pale and look like I'm about to pass out or if its one shade too dark, I look burnt. So, its a fine line. This powder is buttery, its smooth. It creates a veil over your face. It leaves your skin very matte which is SO important to me. I look for two things in a powder, 1- I don't want pores and 2- I want to be matte. I get that people like to look dewy and shiny and all of that but, I don't like that. I feel like I just always look sweaty. Maybe because I live in South West Louisiana and if my face is shiny....its hot as hell, which for three-quarters of the year it is. I have nothing bad to say about this product, as a matter of fact, I'm going to be switching my compacts out as soon as I finish typing this. It is a best seller on their site and I totally see why. This product runs for 29 dollars for a pressed compact. I also see that they have the same powder in a loose powder. I think I'd like to check that out. - YOU can check it out right here iT Cosmetics If you subscribe to their newsletter, you get 10% off of your first purchase. You can also get 25% off of any 30 dollar or more purchase as well as free shipping but this deal ends on 11/18 (Saturday). Overall grade - 10/10 - iT Cosmetics strikes again. Blaq mask Ok so, I personally have a strange love/hate relationship with Blaq Mask, so I was a little apprehensive when I discovered that this was going to be in my glam bag from this month. This one was better than the others that I’ve tried but, it still was a bit of a let-down. It has charcoal in it, which is supposed to be a great way to detox. So, after applying it. I liked it! It was a pretty color, it was a very deep black. And what I liked about it is that when I used it ,it went on smooth and with no holes or wet spots. I had that problem with the Shills Black peel off mask. I found the Shills to be a HUGE let down. This one however, went on smooth and thick. I really liked it and I do feel like it removed some of my impurities and my skin looked like it had an extra glow to it. Here’s my issue with it. It is REALLY hard to remove. Actually, it sucked! I know that all of these peel-off masks are notorious for that but, this one was so so hard! I peeled most of it off but, eventually I had to rinse the rest of it off with a warm towel. After looking around their website. They have some pretty cool stuff. I would try he "teeth whiting wand" and the "under eye patches". The tube of this mask, retails at about 30 bucks. Check out the website here Overall grade- I gotta give it a 6/10. -It was just WAY to difficult to remove. jm solution: water luminous jelly cleanserSo, this is yet ANOTHER cleanser from my ipsy. Here's my issue with it. I've just gotten so many cleansers from them that it makes it difficult to impress me. It's not a bad cleanser but, it didn't particularly deep clean. It was pretty moisturizing and it made my skin pretty soft, which I was kind of expecting with it being called “Jelly”. I think it would be very good for someone who has sensitive skin. It is very gentle. I’d like to try out a moisturizer from this brand because again, it seems to be very skin conscious. So, this cleanser didn’t really remove my make-up, for sure not on the first pass anyway. I had to kind of scrub to remove it. This says a lot about both the make-up as well as the cleanser. It did rinse away really clean. I know that might be a weird thing to say but, some cleansers leave a film on your skin or it like coats your face. This one did leave my skin feeling clean. Not a DEEP clean but, clean. I think I’ll probably use this as a travel cleanser. I think it would be a pretty good product to use after getting off of a plane or as a refresher after a long car ride. Now, that all seems very complementary but, I’m not running to throw away my current travel buddy from Skinn Iceland! This would probably be a good back-up for it. This one didn’t really impress me. It wasn’t good, it wasn’t bad. It was really just forgettable. Generic. Not my fave. Again, if I had dry or aggravated skin it might have been a better fit for me but, I just didn’t really like it. It retails for 25 bucks and honestly, I don’t think I’d pay that much but check it out for yourself here - JM Solutions Overall Grade - 7/10 - D the OverallSo, overall- this bag was a full of high highs, low lows and an old favorite. This spooky yet elegant bag gets a thumbs up for sure. I’ve actually already used it a few times. The products themselves, I’m almost split 50/50 on. I love the highlighter, eye-liner, and the powder. I do not like the mask or the cleanser. Over all since we have them almost even, I’ll give the whole month a C. I’ve already gotten the November bag, and it’s an improvement. Thanks y’all!

This weeks tutorial is creating a look with my new Bronzed Mocha palette from Morphe! This is just a look focusing more on the eyes. It's not a review.I'll be doing a full review of all of the four palettes that I have from Morphe in one long post soon to come. Excuse the room, we're still transforming the guest room into the glam room. And excuse my voice--- I literally just got up! Thanks and I hope ya'll enjoy. |
