9/29/2017 0 Comments september- ipsy bag reviewThis months Ipsy bag had a theme of "Being a Boss" and before you assume that I'm just late with this post. It's not that, I got the bag a little later because of the fact that I redeemed some points. This bag is "Like A Boss" and I really like it so far. I haven't tried out everything but, the message behind it is always so important to me. I really like the idea that Ipsy is telling girls, especially younger ladies that they can be bosses. Be responsible and strong and still be beautiful while doing so and sometimes, even grown women like myself need that little push to make it through the day. I love the little glam bag itself too! It's going to be my go to little black clutch for the fall. From a vegan face mask to yet another nude gloss, there bag has quite a variety in price points and product types. So, here's my review of my five products. If you want your own Glam Bag, come and sign-up right here GET A BAG Dirty little secret cosmetics lip gloss in "nude beach" So, the first thing I want to review is this nude gloss by Dirty little Secret (DLS) cosmetics. I had never heard of this brand before this and it's ok. It's not great, not horrible, it's just a nude gloss. It isn't sticky. Not super shiny. It's a more satin finish of a gloss but, it's cool. I like the taste of it, it doesn't last very long, as most glosses do. It has a little bit of shimmer in it, which isn't my favorite thing. I never got the metallic lip trend, so, that's not one of my favorites. I may be being a little harsh on this product but, it's just another nude gloss. IPSY- I NEED A BREAK from the nude lip products. You guys are wearing me out with those. I will say, I love the applicator of this gloss. It's perfect, you almost don't even need a liner for it. I've worn it a few times and I like it layered on a liner or a lipstick, just to add a little excitement to an otherwise boring gloss. It's a nice Sunday, with no make-up, hair in a bun moment. I like to call it, "off-duty" face. Oh- one thing, I do love about it, is the packaging. I like all of the little polka-dots! It gives a feeling of 60s pin-up and I like that! Try it for yourself DLS Overall Grade: 7/10 - nothing wrong with it. Just boring. MAc- strobe cream in pinklite I literally just wrote a huge paragraph about this stuff as a primer. Just realized that it was a moisturizer buy needless to say that I feel as though this moisturizer can almost double as a primer. It made my skin so freakin' smooth! It's a tinted moisturizer that has been touted as a "snapchat filter for your face". I'm not entirely sure about that because, your girl loves a flower crown or two but, it was pretty good. I very rarely have time to do my makeup in the morning for work and by rarely, I mean never so, I may start using this instead of the one I'm using right now. The one whose name escapes me right now, suffice to say it's from Gargnier (I just checked, it's called "Clearly Brighter"). I tried it under my makeup because AGAIN, I've been thinking that it was a primer for the last two weeks. And I loved it. It made my skin so soft and it gave me a healthy glow and a burst of hydration. It's by MAC and often times think that MAC is overrated, yea- I'll be the one to say it but, in this case it lives up to the hype. Which is crazy to me because, MAC is known for their cosmetics from pigmented eyeshadows to poppin' lipsticks like their ultra popular "Ruby Woo" but, no one ever mentions them for skin-care and what I've tried of their prep+prime line, I have not been impressed, I do love the Mineralized Charge Water but, the rest of the line, I didn't care for. This moisturizer is awesome! I think it'll be my go-to for an everyday non-make-up look. Try it here- MAC Strobe Cream Overall grade: 10/10 Skinfood: black sugar mask wash off I enjoy a good mask, especially one that exfoliates. So this mask, I am on the fence about. I am having a bit of a love/hate relationship with it. First of all, when I saw the word "sugar" in the title and the name being "Skinfood", I expected it to smell sweet. Well, it doesn't. It smells like cleaning products. Like Pine-Sol. I have no idea why though. So, when you apply it to the skin and massage it in, it works really well. The exfoliant, the organic black sugar,is pretty rough, which may be an issue to some but, it isn't uncomfortable. I personally like that a lot. I think it's better at doing it's job when I can actually feel it removing the dead skin cells. The shea butter and macadamia oil leaves your skin softer than it was before. For that, I LOVE this mask. A lot of exfoliating cleansers and masks tend to make the promise of leaving your skin soft and most do but, it's only because the dead skin is removed. This one leaves your skin feeling softer than when you use a moisturizer. After rinsing it off, your face instantly looks better or at least mine did. Ipsy says to apply it for 10-15 minutes to a clean face, pretty much your standard mask procedure. You apply a thin layer, and let it sit. There wasn't really any tingling or burning but again, the scent was very annoying to me. This is my first experience with Soko Glam and I really like the fact that they try to be very organic and everything is made of natural ingredients. Also, a 100 gram bottle is only 10 bucks! Which is a really good deal for a pretty good mask. Also, there are a lot of deals on the site. Free shipping on ALL U.S orders over 35 dollars. You can also earn 10 bucks if you refer a friend. I do like this mask, but the smell is not my cup of tea....or bottle of Pine-Sol. Check it out right here Black Sugar Mask Overall grade 8/10- again, the mask itself is pretty good. Hate the smell though. Colourpop cosmetics brow boss in dark brown Eyebrows are a very big deal in the world of cosmetics right now, and I don't think that anyone sees that changing anytime soon. I've now tried quite a few eyebrow products, from creams, to primers, to gels, to volumizers, pomades and probably the most prevalent option eyebrow pencils. I find that for an everyday brow look, pencils are definitely my "go-to". When I saw that there was one in my bag, I was very happy. This one comes by way of ColourPop. I've had quite a few of their products, and I've had mixed feelings about them. Their eye products have never let me down. The eyeliner is amazing! This product didn't disappoint me. The color is perfect for my brows. The product itself glides on, it's so smooth. There's no dragging at all. It was almost creamy, the fact that it is so smooth makes it very malleable before it sets. It being so flexible gave me a lot time to shape and blend my brows out so that it looked very natural. So far, so good. BUT - the packaging is very cheaply made, which makes sense because ColourPop is notorious for their low prices. I literally broke it before I even got to use it. The little spoolie-type of brush at the end, broke off. It broke off a couple of times. I had to keep stopping and fixing it. The product itself is awesome. The actual packaging is pretty cheaply made. Their website, ALWAYS has pretty good deals, and again no shade to Colourpop, they have awesome products and are able to keep their prices low by sacrificing a few things and I have no issue with that. On the ColourPop website, this pencil retails at 5 dollars, a great price for such a good product. They come in four different shades ranging from "Blonde" to "Black". Deals on the site: 5 dollars off your first order. Free Domestic shipping on orders over 30 bucks. You can check them out right here Brow Boss Overall grade- 9/10- love the product, slightly disappointed with the packaging. in Conclusion There's one product in this bag that I didn't review, the Z Skin Acne Spot Treatment - It's an acne product and thankfully, I haven't had any pimples as of late.
Anyway- overall, this was a pretty good glambag. All of the products are things that I can use on a regular basis. This bag was full of natural looking, everyday use products. Good job, Ipsy! Thanks for making us all boss babes this month!

Hi, my name is Marti and I am addicted to masks. I LOVE a good face mask. Sheet masks, gel masks, clay masks, I love them all! I just think that a beauty routine is so good for your skin and aside from that. I find them very relaxing. I do some type of mask at least twice a week. I try to do one on Sunday. (Sunday is my spa day-you know, to get ready for the week) and Wednesday for that mid week, pick me up. I'm always keeping my eye on trends and those beauty staples that stay around for ages. I had been hearing about Peter Thomas Roth beauty for a long time. Especially his "24 K Gold" firming and tightening mask. So, when it came time to cash in on my Macy's "Thanks for Sharing" gift card, I cashed in on a Peter Thomas Roth mask sampler pack called "Meet Your Mask". It was only 25 dollars. It came with six of his best sellers including.... You guessed it! My 24 K Gold Mask! In addition to that one, came the highly hyped, Irish Moor Mask, a Pumpkin Enzyme Mask. There were also three more gel masks the, "Blue Marine Algae Mask", "Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Mask" and the "Cucumber Gel Mask". I had to leave out one of the masks because, I used it up before I could take the picture. So did it live up to the hype? Honestly most of them did. I think I'll go through each one from favorite to least favorite. I always suggest, if you're just trying a brand for the first time, grab a sampler pack. They are usually cheaper and they let you test a few products out at a time. It's much better than committing to one product, spending a crap ton of money and then realizing that the product wasn't any good. I also really like these for travel sizes for when I'm out of town for an event or a trip, I love to take them with me for a quick glam on the go. If not a sample then a trial or travel size. Dip your toe in the pool before just diving into the deep end. Check this set out right here, where I go it - Meet Your Mask And never forget Beauty ALWAYS ships for free at Macy's. 24 k Gold Mask -Pure luxury lift & firm mask So, lets start with this stellar mask. This is my favorite for sure but, it was also the one that I was looking forward to the most and there's nothing more upsetting than getting something and it doesn't live up to the hype. So first off, I started seeing this mask appear around awards season. I follow a lot of people on snapchat and I saw so many starlets using this product. And it just has an allure to it. I mean it's a mask that literally has gold in it. So, here's what it promises, it reads on the tube "Pure Luxury Lift & Firm Mask". I can honestly say, I noticed a little bit of difference the first time that I used it. It's like an instant little pick me up. I don't really have sagging or drooping in my skin...yet but, again I take really good care of my skin. I am beginning to notice little spots and lines here and there now that I'm the big 3-0 (still can't believe that). More than firming and lifting. I found that it gave my skin a really pretty glow. Like some kind of way, the little gold flakes stay in your skin and it's very noticeable. But, because it's pretty expensive, I only use it for special occasions. For me, those things are a Ball, A concert, WWE Show (yea, I know- I'm a little different), things like that. It should totally be a part of your special event glam. It will make your skin look radiant before you even start your make-up. It makes your canvas beautiful and you always want to build glam on a good foundation. Again, it's a litle expensive but, it's really good! And from what I understand, this line also has a moisturizer and a cleanser. I haven't tried them yet but, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it....when it's on sale. I just looked in on Macys.com- they are running a really good sale on a set featuring the "24 K Gold Collection"- I actually think I'm going to order this set- It's a pretty good set for getting glammed up - Check it out here, looks like it's only 39 dollars, which really isn't that bad considering the fact that one sheet mask is over 60 dollars. So check it out. GOLD COLLECTION irish moor mud- purifying black mask I was slightly skeptical of this mask because I feel like I've been let down by a few "black masks" recently, including the WAY overhyped "Peel off Black Mask" . This one was different because I love this mask! It was the first one that I actually ran out of. I used it at least once a week and I really love it. It has kind of a weird smell but, it literally smells like mud, which to me is a good thing because that means that its real. It's not filled with artificial scents or any crap like that. Another thing that I like, and it's a little superficial but, I like the color of it. It is a very deep, rich and shiny black. It looks like oil. Again, in my mind, that makes me feel as if the ingredients are more natural. Onto the way that it works...I felt like it made my skin so soft and so clean. It was like it pulled out of the blackheads and impurities from my skin. It looked like I had a full-on facial and gave me a little bit of a glow. I was not sure at first if maybe my skin just looked brighter because I took off such a dark color but, after a few weeks, I did notice a difference in my skin. I got less break outs, no pimples at all. One of the things, the only thing that I don't like is that it's so dark that it tends to stain things. So just be careful because you HAVE to try it. So, I'm looking at Macy's online and it looks like the bigger size, the 6.8 Fluid Ounces, is cheaper (33 dollars) than the smaller size 5 fluid ounces which is (58 dollars). You should check it out here at Macy's.com - Purifying Black Mask Pumpkin enzyme mask- enzymatic dermal resurfacer So, if this mask sounds like it's serious business, it's because it is. It feels a lot like a chemical peel. It has little pieces of something in it, I always assumed it was little pieces of Pumpkin because of the name but, I see no proof of that. I wouldn't suggest it for people with super sensitive skin because it has AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) in it. Which is so strong that it warrants a "sunburn warning" on the back of the tube, claiming that you should be sure to where sunscreen and protective covering when going into the sun. About the actual product? The first thing you notice for certain is the amazing smell of it. It's Pumpkin Spice Latte in a tube for your face. That's my favorite thing about it by far. After applying it to your skin, you can feel it exfoliating your face. It's not scratchy but, you can tell that it's doing it's job. The directions say to leave it on for 3-7 min., I wouldn't suggest leaving it on for longer than that as it starts to tingle pretty quickly. It's suggested to be used twice a week but for me, once is enough and only if needed. I would use this if you need a reset on your skin. If it's flaky or your experiencing a rough patch (or patches) or your just noticing a lot of oily spots, black heads, white heads, or there's just a ton of dirt on your face and in your pores, this will get in there and clean ALL OF THAT JUNK. I feel like it's one of the deepest cleaning face mask that I've ever experienced. My face has felt more moisturized but, it's never felt that clean. I say again, the best way that I could put it to you is that it's a chemical peel. I do like this mask but, it's just a little drying. So, if you do try it I suggest you follow it up with a deep moisturizer, maybe even an oil like the Tarte "Maracuja Oil", just to replenish what the mask takes off. Check it out here - Pumpkin Enzyme Mask BLUE marine algae, rose stem cell bio-repair, and cucumber gel masks I looped these last three together because, to put it simply, they are all interchangeable. They all pretty much do the same thing. I'm sure they have some subtle differences that I just haven't noticed. All of them are SUPER HYDRATING. Whenever I have a particularly dry day, I liked to use the Blue Marine Algae mask, I liked it so much that I've run out of it. So, lately I've been using the Cucumber gel mask. Cucumbers have been used for decades to decrease swelling and to hydrate. I like to focus on this one under my eyes to take away puffiness and this one definitely incorporates those qualities. It's very cooling as well. The Rose Stem-Cell Bio-Repair is one that I like to use for anywhere that I have had blemishes or any type of cuts on my face. That's mostly because of the name, I'm not sure that it's any different from the other two. Although, it doesn't say this on the instructions and you're completely taking this into your own hands if you try it, I really like to use the Rose stem-cell as a "lip mask", I follow the exact same directions, except that I apply it to my lips. I find that it works on dry, cracked lips, to replenish them. Another pretty cool thing about all of these gel masks, is that you can refrigerate them for an extra cooling mask (see what I did there, mentioning "cool" earlier). Again it helps with de-puffying , swelling, and hydrating. If you live in the South as I do, that cooling mask in the Summer can be a really nice treat. It's quite refreshing. Try them out here- Blue Marine Algae Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair and Cucumber Gel masks.
