Japonesque beauty is a brand that is well known for it's elegance and amazing color payout as well as beautiful simplistic products. A while back I hit a HUGE 90% off sale and I racked up!!! I got so many brushes and each one of them I loved. Since then I've purchased quite a few of their products. Two primers and a few little extras. In this post I do a "First Impressions" on even more beautiful Japonesque and all at 90% off! I grabbed the "Best Sellers" kit - This little set and I DO mean LITTLE is the cutest thing that I have EVER seen. It came with teeny tiny little products but, even though they are samples. Japonesque took their time and managed to make each one beautiful. Each little compact has a beautiful acrylic top featuring that almost looks like a water-color painting. And each little compact came with a mirror! A mirror? I own some high-end palettes without a mirror. It came with a Velvet Touch blush, A velvet touch finishing powder and a mini lipstick. If you're not familiar with the "Velvet Touch" line it is all supposed to make your skin look and feel like Velvet and the primer that comes with this line is so beautiful, lightweight and it stays put all day. This little set cost me only 2.80 from 45.00 retail. The second product that I have to try is the a Green Concealer Crayon. If there was one concealer that I always need it's a green one because my skin is always red in some places. Whenever I'm sick, my nose is red, when I have a migraine my eyes are so dark underneath. In this case mostly I'd use a red or orange color correct concealer but, this one made my skin so bright and it was only 2.22 from 22 bucks. So basically, I got four Japonesque Beauty pieces for less than 5 bucks. I liked both of these sets. Check out why I like them as well as see me testing it out in the video below. Welcome to First Impression Friday. Product infoBest-Sellers Kit Comes with three different products. A velvet touch blush, a velvet touch powder and a pro lipstick. The entire set isn't on their website any more but I'll post the links here for full-sized. Also, you cannot by them from their website, which I found kind of odd. But, when you click the link, you'll be directed to a place where you can buy them. Product LinksProduct info.

On this edition of First Impression Friday- it's time for another ipsy bag review...FINALLY. This is the very long awaited November ipsy glam bag. So, the theme for this months bag is #Blessed which was an interesting concept for Thanksgiving. I liked it because it was a different take on it. It wasn't a "gobble, gobble", "turkey day", or the much now overplayed "Friendsgiviing"...it's just a theme that you can really apply to anything anytime now, what the products had to do with the theme? I have no idea but, lets get into it. IPSY REMINDERS
The glam bag The bag itself is pretty cute. It's a waterproof bag that is a deep purple with little black hearts all over it. It's not one that I would carry as just a clutch but, it is a pretty cute makeup bag, I would use it in that way. I am glad though that hey did make it SO- "Thanksgiving"-esque. Honestly, it wasn't even fall themed. I thought that was a good thing. I don't like a Super theme-y theme and Thanksgiving can get WAY out of hand WAY quickly. Turkey this and cornucopia that, it can get a tad bit annoying and I certainly don't want to be thinking of gravy and roast while I'm doing my makeup. Marc anthony true professional Bye Bye Frizz Heat Protectant Leave-in Conditioner Let's discuss leave-in conditioners, shall-we? We've now known each other long enough for ya'll to know that I am a conditioning fanatic. That means that its a good and bad for me when I see a conditioning product in an ipsy bag. I've used so many amazing conditioners in my life that I've come across, it's hard to impress me. On the other hand, I'm always one ipsy bag away from finding my new favorite conditioner. This is not the first Marc Anthony product that I've received from ipsy. So far I've been pretty happy with them. This product in particular is a leave-in conditioner. The "Bye Bye Frizz: Leave-in Conditioner" promises to make hair "...more manageable than ever". So, did it work? I think that it made my hair pretty smooth. In all fairness, I didn't blow it dry. I just let my hair air dry and it dried pretty straight and pretty smooth and after I flat ironed it (I did add some heat protectant). It was very smooth, very flat and it was so so soft. So, I think it lived up to it's promises. It's pretty good. The full sized bottle is available at ULTA for 8.99, which to me is a pretty good price and you know that ULTA ALWAYS has some kind of coupons available. Check it out for yourself right here- Marc Anthony at ULTA TheBalm Cosmetics Bonnie Dew-Manizer Highlighters are another product that I increasingly cannot live without. Liquid ones are usually not my favorites but, I was surprised at how much I liked this one. First of all, can we talk about TheBalm Cosmetics. I LOVE this brand, this is another one that I was introduced to through ipsy. One of my favorite things about theBalm is their packaging and adorable names. The first product that I ever got from them was an single eye shadow from the Meet Matt(e) Trimony Palette, and I just thought that it was so cute. Since then, I've gotten a few bronzers, highlighters, and more eye shadows from this brand. The packaging is cute too. Always a 60's inspired cartoon theme, almost like a comic book or old school poster. This liquid highlighter claims that it can be used so many ways. On the website it says "Mix with moisturizer, primer, or foundation for a radiant dewy finish." I used mine in a traditional sense. I used a little at the top of the cheek, tip of the nose and in the Cupid's bow. I will tall you, it was beautiful. It was bright, blinding and easy to apply. The applicator is the perfect length to apply liquid highlighter with. I applied it with the applicator and then blended it out with my fingers. I love it. I think it might be a new go-to product for me, it's every bit as good as my OFRA highlighter. The full-size version will run you about 14.50 . If you want to get a golden glow like this you can get it from here- TheBalm.com Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in QuirkyRecently, in my makeup life (like two or three years ago), I discovered blush. Well, I had always known about blush but, I kind of knew it more as rouge. Literally like the big bright pink circle- that decorates the faces of clowns, Annabelle, and other terrifying things, that I stayed far away from it. That all changed when I discovered blushes that had a honey/bronze tint to it. I never knew that you could just do a healthy flush of pink on the cheeks and make yourself look fresh and beautiful. Here's where ipsy comes in. So- my all-time FAVORITE blush came to me via ipsy. It's the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush in "Feisty". It is perfect! It's so golden, it could almost be considered as a pink tinted bronzer but, I adore it! It gives you just a hint on color. Now that you know all of this, here's why I was a little apprehensive about this glam bag, they sent me the same blush but in the shade "Quirky". I'm always excited about products from Tarte because they very rarely miss. The packaging is always beautiful and even though, it's an ipsy sample, they used the same imprint on the blush and also, in the care in which they package it. But, I just wasn't sure that they could top the previous shade. So "Feisty" and "Quirky"- the wear, packaging, and formula are both awesome because it's the same thing. The differences are the shades and I was right. Although "Quirky" is in itself a gorgeous shade, it's slightly pinker than "Feisty", which makes "Feisty" a better one for me. Again, don't get me wrong. I really like quirky. It's not a bad product, I'm pretty sure I'll use it a lot, just not as much as the other one. Now- you DO get what you pay for and this blush is certainly not cheap- it'll cost you about 30 bucks for the full-sized version. You can check it out (along with the other amazing shades) right here. (Ok, so I couldn't find those exact shades but, here are the current ones-there are some pretty close ones.) Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Katherine Cosmetics Retractable Mini Eyeliner in Royal PlumOh eyeliner. How I love thee- markers, gel, pencils and/or pens. I am open to any type of vessel for to get a beautiful wing or to just finish off my look. What I am NOT as open to however, is color change. Yeah...I'm a black liner girl. All black, all the time. So, anytime I get another shade, I'm a little unsure of what exactly to do with it. This beautiful brown-ish purple liner threw me for a loop at first. But, after I did the rest of my look, I thought it would be a very sleek look to do it as an under-eye color. So, I tried it. The size of the point was pretty cool. It was big and wide enough to make a pretty good line and for me personally, I think that it would be a good to tightline with. Sometimes, especially for us girls with darker eyes ,like my brown nearly black eyes, it accents the gold and lighter brown sections. So that's the shade itself- they made me a believer of different shades. Let's get into the mechanics of it- this is an automatic liner meaning that it doesn't need to be sharpened. Now, for some people that's a big deal (my mom REFUSES to use a liner that she has to sharpened) but for me, I don't really care and actually find that usually the sharpened ones work a little better. It's very easy to apply. It glides on super smooth and even and I have to be honest and say that it did last ALL day long. I have nothing bad to say about this product, it's beautiful and I truly believe that it would work on any skin tone especially in the fall. I had never heard about this Canadian brand before this and I love it. It's a little pricey for me, at 34 bucks for a shade that wouldn't wear everyday but, you can get Free shipping over $75 on their website and they do have three other shades as well as a smudger, that wasn't included on the sample. If you want to check it out, you can find it right here. - Eyeliner Solution #IWantToBeAKatherineGirl NYX Professional Makeup Turnt Up! Lipstick in Feline When I first started shopping in ULTA, I quickly discovered NYX cosmetics. It was like someone let me in on a giant secret! Who knew that there was a professional/prestige brand of cosmetics that was being sold for L'Oreal prices- no shade to L'Oreal. I went into the store with a friend of mine who was looking for a matte lipstick that would not dry out her lips. We were introduced ti the NYX soft matte lip creme. After that night, I was hooked. Soft matte lip cremes, butter lip glosses, Liquid Lip Suedes, Lip Lingeries, You name it- I was a fan. So- when I see a NYX product in an ipsy bag, I'm usually pretty stoked, especially if it's one that I'm not familiar with. So, when I got this NYX "Turnt Up" lipstick in the shade "Feline"- I was surprised that my reaction was not a super positive one. Now, full disclosure...I HATE traditional lipsticks or as I Like to call them "Twist-ups". I am so much more of a liquid lipstick type of chick. I just like having more control using the wand and I absolutely loathe when you wear the point down and you get that annoying lipstick nub. However, there are inevitable (rarely but, inevitable) exceptions to every rule. This NYX "Turnt up" Lipstick is basically the "High Voltage" lipstick renamed for some reason. Not at all repackaged but, just renamed. I have a few of the High Voltage line in "Flutter Kiss", "Dalia", and "Dirty Talk"...all of them are decent but I hardly use them. I will say that the formula for "Feline" is slightly worse than these others. Why? It's so splotchy! It's see-through in certain spots and super dark in others. It's like a terrible satin lipstick. I do understand that darker shades are harder to accomplish but... "Dirty Talk" is a pretty chocolate brown and "Dalia" is a very deep purple which can almost be confused for a black and honestly I do not have the same issues with them. Now, I do understand that the price point is pretty low (it comes in at but again- if it ain't broke, why rename and shatter it into 1000 pieces? I also don't like when products can't pick a lane (i.e. a wedge- sweetie be a heel or a flat- make up your damn mind). Same thing goes for a satin lipstick, either be a gloss or a matte other than that, I truly do not need you in my life. Again, maybe this one is a one off because the ones I have from the High Voltage line share a similar issue with the satin finish and therefore they don't last long but, I really love the coverage and the shades (they are awesome when paired with the right liner) on those so maybe it's just a less than stellar formula change. So- if you want to check it out for yourself you can get to it right here at NYX Turnt Up Lip Color Free Shipping over 25 bucks. The entire line is on sale, it retails at under 5 bucks and is on sale for under 3! At the time I'm typing this, "Feline" is currently out of stock but some of the other shades I mentioned have crossed over and are still available including my favorite "Flutter Kisses". MakeUp Forever Ultra HD Perfector (Extra product) One of the many things that I love about being an ipster is the chance to redeem points for extra samples or to add extra deluxe samples to your glam bag. This month I added a little lagniappe (it's a French/Louisiana thing- look it up). I am someone who, as I've said on here multiple times is eternally late- I'll be honest, most of it is due to medical crap but, none the less- late is late. So one of my favorite products of all time is a tinted moisturizer. Girl! A tinted moisturizer is EVERYTHING when you are in a rush. When I was in high school, someone gave my mom a bottle of Clinique "City Block"- which was tinted moisturizer/ sunblock (that for some stupid reason isn't made anymore) and she didn't like it so she gave it to me. Instantly, I was OBSESSED! To be able to hit a one stop shop (now keep in mind, I was 14) was amazing! I'd rub that on my face, tinted lip balm and my way too skinny self with orange hair was off to class. Since then I've had hits and misses - NYX tinted moisturizer is awesome. So, is this one. The Makeup Forever "Ultra HD Perfector". So, this stuff is considered a lightweight skin tint with an SPF of 25 and a moisturizer that comes in ten flexible, blendable shades. Let me begin by saying a few things about MakeUp Forever- I have heard of this line of cosmetics for YEARS now. They seem to now be what I used think that MAC was at one time. I received from ipsy a while back a mini foundation sample, it was my travel foundation for quite some time- the shade was like a DEAD-ON match (which hardly happens when I choose a shade so how they did it is beyond me). I keep meaning to get more into them but, I'm not sure why I haven't but, the price point is pretty high up there. But every time I wear either of the two products that I have from them, I get SO MANY compliments. I will admit, I was quite surprised at how little the sample was at first but, a little goes a long way when using this. It's lightweight, it protects the skin and evens out the skin tone. I love it. For more information on this product check it out right here. - ULTRA HD Perfector Again, I warn you guys, the price point is high clocking in at - 36 bucks but, you get what you pay for. Now go and enjoy your valentines day, beauties! And if you don't have a valentine be your own or i'll be your valentine- remember how special, timeless, and beautiful you are- luv ya!
